Just been out to the van and tried the fridge on gas and encountered a problem. It's a dometic 3 way fridge and you have to push the thermostat button in when lighting on gas and release when the burner lights and the igniter stops clicking. The igniter kept clicking so I assumed the burner wasn't lit.On closer inspection of the burner with mrs wakk pushing in the thermostat it is actually lighting but the igniter is still clicking .......any ideas

Depending on the model it could be a simple faulty ignition switch or a ignition module on the other type of fridge. What is your fridge model?

It's an Electrolux/Dometic RM 6401L

This may be complete rubbish but at this time of year you tend to get lots of hibernating insects, damp and dirt, spiders webs etc, so I would just turn off the automatic igniter and just let it burn and dry out for a while to see if it clears itself. Need to check the flame when ever you open the fridge but as it is colder outside than it is in the fridge I think it is worth the risk. :)

The good news is it is a common problem the button not fully reseating. take the knob off give that and the spindle a clean..with luck back in business

Channa

If channa's advice doesn't work it could be the igniter, you cannot check the flame on a Dometic RM 6401L because there is no viewing window, you can put your nostrils to the top vent and smell/feel the heat but that is all, a common problem with the igniter light clicking when it is lit is the electronic igniter , not an expensive fix at £39.35 but wasted if it doesn't cure it, it cured mine

With this model it could be either light the fridge when the burner is lit remove and disconnect the piezoelectric switch. If it stops clicking its the switch if it keeps clicking its probably the ignition modular.

these fridge problems come up so often that maybe we should get together a definitive list of problems and solutions, that could be cached somewhere for anyone to access

Update

The fridge is repaired and working as good as new. Thanks for the replies on this thread,a couple of you got it,it was the igniter box.....Dometic Electronic Igniter | Dometic RM415 Absorption Refrigerator Spare Parts | Leisureshopdirect

I took it to a local caravan/motorhome repairer who changed the box in less than 10 minutes. It is now igniting much quicker than before and cutting out when lit as it should.I could have done it myself but wasn't sure what it was and so could have bought the igniter for nothing. My logic was if it was a different faulty component then the repairer would have it in stock and be able to replace it.

Thanks for coming back with the result, it helps others when you post how it was fixed
