1: How do I clean the flu??
2: Where is it??
3: Have you got any other suggestions what may be wrong with it???

Any help would be great, thanks in advance.....

Good fridge - human error!

We had been having problems with lighting the fridge from the time we bought the motorhome. When we thought the gas was lit it wasn't always.

Like you we thought it must be needing serviced but the engineer said there was nothing wrong, it was perfectly clean, we were just pressing the gas control for too long before sparking the ignitor. The pressure of gas building up was "puffing it out" and preventing the fridge pilot from lighting. It would light but only after many tries. Turns out he was right and we now only hold the control in for a brief moment before pushing the ignitor and it lights easily! We still take everything out of the bottom of the fridge to see that the pilot light at the back is lit before trusting it.

I'm not sure if this is relevant but thought I'd share it anyway!

I would suggest you tell us the model of fridge and perhaps the maker of your van so we can help more.

Its an Electrolux, 3 way fridge, It lights ok but just isnt cooling at all....Its in a converted T4...

If it lights but wont cool then you may need to look at the 12V supply to the thermostat.
Check that the gas jet diffuser is still pointing vertically towards the boiler tube.
After that the chimney/flue for obstructions - cover the diffuser first, then use a bottle
brush to carefully clean the flue, vacuum the soot and rust out at the same time. Usually there
is a plastic cover on the outside of the vehicle where the flue exits the vehicle - take that off and
work downwards.

When you say it lights OK, is the flame the normal cooling flame ie fairly tall, or is it just the small non-cooling flame. Don't know what system your fridge uses, but older three way fridges had no thermostat for 12V, one for 240V and a separate one for gas - so if the flame remains at just the pilot light size all the time, it isn't going to get cold. Could be the thermostat.

Hi, we had a similar problem recently and had the unit checked. The gas test results were very concerning with Carbon monoxide figuring clearly.

The jet was clogged up resulting in poorly burning gas causing a partially blocked flue. Flue was cleaned, jet replaced and retested until no CO was registered.

Don't mess about with this, take it to the professionals asap it could save your life.
