I learned from on here that I need a replacement relay to get my electric step and fridge working again but having trawled through ebay cann’t see any suggestions. My mechanic can fit it if I get it so what do I ask for and where from, it’s a peugeot boxer btw.

Can you post a picture of the one you are replacing?.

FYI most relays are easy to fit. Paying a mechanic to do it is like paying a time served sparky to change a light bulb.

What are you typing in to Ebay ? I typed "12v relay" and got over 64,000 hits.

Ah,I just typed ‘relay’, thanks but if I tried it myself I’d inevitably lose all the nuts and then set the van alight.

I imagine it will be a VSR or Voltage sensing relay Durite do one, wait for confirmation before clicking buy as it might be more specialer a pic of the original will help too.

Thanks for replies, I’ve contacted the converter to ask if it does have a relay and what type and where they might fit it so just waiting for an answer now from equi-trek.

Are you getting confused, or maybe I am. Do you really have a combined fridge step relay or separate ones? A lot of the instructions I have read suggest picking up the D+ for the step from the fridge relay

We need a photo. Most 12v relays you pul out the old one and push in the new. No nuts; no bolts and no tools involved. But without a photo we are working in the dark. Can you trace the wires from the step back?

The one that knocks power off to habitation systems when the engine runs was in the wardrobe on our 2004 Swift sundance Ducato based

Wasn't actually the relay that was duff on ours but the fuse feeding it power after it blew when the step didn't deploy fully ...

The relay only clips into a relay holder so nothing too techy .

Whilst we try and work out what relay you need (we need that photo) could you supply some more information to help us to help you.

a) Year make and model of the Mo Ho. Different MoHo manufacturers put the relays in different places.
"Peugeot" is tha maker of the chassis.
If you don't know who made the moho send us photo of the outside of the vehicle as there will almost certainly be the makers name somewhere.
The maker of the motor home will be "Bailey" or Swift" or something like that.

b) A few of us are surprised that you have concluded that a single relay controls the step and the fridge.
Please post a link to the thread on here that led you to that conclusion so we can check your logic.

c) you seem concerned about replacing a relay.
This video shows how simple it is. (your relay will almost certainly not be under the bonnet!)
The only thing missing from the video is to check the ignition isn't on before you start.

Your right, just checked the fridge, started engine then put it on manual and the 12 volt light came on it just didn’t select 12volt when on auto it chose gas so I’m guessing it might work on auto if I gave it more time, so it’s just the step, the fridge is a 3 way dometic with auto or manual option. Thanks.

Sorry,it was mentioned in a reply by ‘merl’ that the power could come from fridge supply hence my assumption that if fridge wasn;t working it could be same problem, i’ll get professional help.

I would love to know the answer to this. My step used to automatically come in when the engine started but now it doesn't. It works manually okay. Have checked every fuse I can find and all okay.

When mine stopped auto retracting (swift sundance on 2004 ducato )

It was one of the fuses on the converters fuse block inside the wardrobe .

My converter said to look for a 6amp fuse in the fuse box by driver knee (boxer) ,there were about 6 but they were all part of the manufacturers system not retro-fitted so back to square one for me.Good luck sorting it

On our Ducato ....the only fuses of relavance to anything behind the cab were 2 that ran the side/front/rear marker lights ,

Everything else motorhome wise was either on the aux fuse box (under the bonnet passenger side just below the scuttle) ....or in the wardrobe .

Hi there, I have a moto-trek PVC & I’m pretty sure the relay is below the manual step switch behind the plastic panel in the door pillar.
Like others have said when you find it take a pic & match. Think I got mine from Amazon. Regards

Thanks Tucker, mine is a moto-trek too, the guy at MT got back to me and said try a 6 volt fuse by driver right knee first ,I opened the panel and removed and cleaned every 6 volt fuse in there and surprisingly it now retracts when I turn on ignition but no buzzer , I will look at trying to get that switch off to have a look, appreciate the info, thanks ,rog
