No evidence so far of an U turn. We’re literally just back to ****** Britain today after a wee 6 week Tour de France. For the first time I found it a bit tricky driving because there are so many speed cameras and so few speed limit signs in some areas. I have already picked up one 45€ fine, there could be more as it takes about a month to come through. Although 50 might be the default we were surprised how many roads were 43mph and at times it was difficult to tell. Going through villages the speed limit was often 19 mph again more often than I remember. We didn’t update our sat nav so it is usually wrong telling us that almost all the roads we were on was 56mph so we ended up down loading copilot for the trial period. (Which I quite like by the way) so take care if your heading off to France anytime soon. Other than that we had a fantastic time.

This seems to infer that departments will be able to revert to 90, but may chose to stay as they are.
This would mean that a 90 road could become a 80 road as you cross an invisible line between departments.

Thank goodness we are taking the Spanish ferry route this year.

Thank goodness we are taking the Spanish ferry route this year.
I would guess there will be limit signs, just like there are in many places across UK, Oxfordshire and it's 50mph limits come to mind.

Speed Limits.
We came back through France two weeks ago along the N10 near Vendrome obviously I was flashed but didn't know it until Saturday morning just gone when a letter arrived for me saying I had gone 6 klms over the speed limit and a 45euro fine.
I drive on my rev counter , speedo and sat nav and don't think I was over the limit but one can't argue.
So I very unhappily paid the 45 euros. Still it is the first fine in 30 years of driving in France.
