in case you think that a baguette is no good the next day
there's 2 sizes of baguette, i buy the bigger one for instant consumption , and a couple for later. these i wrap tightly in a plastic bag or clingfilm, they'll last for ages, just stick them in the back of a cupboard
when you open them , they've changed consistency to 'a bit chewy' but not hard or stale , and cut on a long diagonal are great for sandwiches
so don't sling the offcut, wrap it for later

another way to refresh them is dip them in clean water and warm them up in an oven . just like fresh bread .
can soak them abit as well. but practice makes perfect.
best bread is lebonese flat bread or moroccan bread. mmmmm.

We bought a tupperware type bread box in france holds 4 small baggettes keeps them fine for several days

Moroccan Flat Bread..made with either 1/3 or 1/2 semolina

Some baguettes are so hard you can play cricket with them and use a boule(bread roll) for the ball and stale baguettes for the wicket and bat!

hi
just put your bread in microwave for 6 or 7 seconds to refresh it.

We use a large insulated plastic bag that is intended for bringing frozen food home.different texture but won't break your teeth!

i love fresh crusty bread though the dentist tells me it’s the worst thing for pulling fillings out, i carry the part baked ones as next day is stale to me we have a baguette bag but next day it’s soft and chewy and only good for toast or rebaking , i grew up with a village baker who did sourdough bread lovely and tasty but like housebricksthe next day a lot of french banquettes are sourdoug( so the same applies , if we buy the large stick we normally eat half and wrap in foil & freeze that works fine but we have a decent size freezer in our van

it can be dangerous - i once swung a leg over my moped and caught the crusty end of a baguette strapped to the seat, sliced my ankle open nicely, still got the scar- wife couldn't believe i lost that much blood after falling out with a loaf

Worst one we ever bought was from the little shop in Semur-en Brionnais in the Loire Valley it was inedible :scared:

I would have had to take an electric saw to get through the crust never mind a sharp knife and i had no chance of ripping it apart either :mad2:
