Free showers Colwyn Bay

Following the opening of Porth Eirias, the new watersport centre by the pier, it came to my notice that there are free shower facilities on offer.

Obviously aimed at those doing water sports, but free is free to all.

I realise that most of what is there isn't operational yet (it is managed by the council!) but there's views from the top, small swing area for the kids AND our newly imported beach each side of the pier, where you can nearly always find some dryish sand to play etc.

That is until our £6m of sand is washed away!! but that's another story. There's sometimes a hose available in the car park to wash the jet ski's, will have a better look soon.

Was there a couple of weeks ago. Its looking good. Love the area. Good piece of information, there was a motorhome on there for the night when we looked round. We always park at opposit end. Looked bad though last time as a caravan was parked up with car next to it, and its big gas bottle out. Will ruin it for us as looks bad and would imagine will get locals backs up.

Gas bottle outside? Usually that is a travelers method

If you mean at the very end of the prom, that area is owned by the railway not the council. The caravan man comes very regularly to fish. He actually clears up after the "Mackerel" fishermen have gone!!

The council cannot stop you from stopping at the end. Most people just stop overnight on the prom and go next day.

If he clears up after them you can't knock it. Too many fishermen leave all there bait wrappers etc, my husband always comes home with loads of rubbish from wherever he fishes. Same as when we wild camp, always gather up any rubbish, as don't want anybody to think we left it.

Just to let u know the showers are turned off around tea tine that's the outdoor showers on the prom . But it is fresh water a d not just sea water so is good for a quick shower . The building is a big waste if money in my opion one of the last funding bids before the crunch in 2008 . It just looks like a place for the jet skies who are the main are very well off. The building is just toilet and large tourist centre with a small boat . It's obvious not goin to pay for itself long term and will prob be rendered out as a restraint etc in the future

I believe it has also a nomination for "Ugliest Building" too, which seems appropriate.
