hi off to france this sunday has anyone stayed at the new aire at wissant is there any services?

we tried to get on but it was full! looks like those who were there were very protective of their spot too, had some very odd looks as we drove on. If you want to get on I would go early. Didn't notice the water situation Im affraid.

We usually stop there for the first/last night as it's so close to the tunnel. From what I remember I don't think there is any water but you can empty your toilet & grey waste. Local bus/coaches park there overnight in the middle.

We also regularly use this as a first and last night stop. As Kontiki says, there is no water but you can empty grey and black waste (but its only a small grid). Its all hardstanding and the space is shared with the buses.

The aire is in a great spot - just a few minutes walk into town with a few restaurants, a good boulangerie and a great beach for the dogs!

We usually go to the aire at Tardinghen on the way to the motorway to use their services - water, grey waste (drive over grill), black waste and recycling bins for 3 euros. Its 5 euros if you stay overnight and use the services.

This is also a lovely aire - see their website for details - accueil

3 different areas to stay. We have tried 2 of them - Le Fond de Sombre is just a few hundred yards from the Wissant aire and La Fleur des Champs with fabulous views over the Channel. The services are at the farm.

Wissant

The aire in Wissant is a nice spot. One of the reasons you cannot have water is that the municipality discourages long term stayers.
However; if you are really in need of water: there is a natural spring, with excelent water, near the municipal camping; Rue de la Source

And here: 50.806335,1.614752 (cut'n'paste into Google Maps) is a very nice little Aire on a farm at Ambleteuse just along the coast. Park up in the farmer's field for 2 or 3 euros. Great views across the Channel.

Calais Aire

We just came back from France / Calais on Thursday , we stayed 2 nights at the municipal Aire virtually on the beach just opposite the ferry terminal ,plenty of hot food stands and Resteraunts nearby or a 10 min walk into Calais centre ,

There is a WC point and free WC water ( The French and the Germans filled their water containers from it ) or you can pay 2 euros for 100 litres ,There is also a Grey water point.

The fee was 7 euros a night .
