FON - some tips getting set up

I've just received the FON2412A, got it for eu19.99 and only realy need it at home for access to FON network, but it does occur to me that could be useful at work in a WiFi blackspot.
Does anyone know, if used as WiFi extender do you log in with 'myplace' and password, or do you use original WiFi settings of 'base station'? Also will anyone using the main login (as opposed to FON) be able to access any details of my registered email and password?

Just a thought
Has the FON router got a WAN connection and a LAN connection/s?
If you plug a LAN connection from the FON router into your Belkin router LAN ports this will in effect give you two DHCP servers on one network and stop your normal internet connection. The Fon router WAN connection should plug into a LAN connection on your Belkin router. In theory anyway. What Fon router have you got and it should not be an ADSL one as you are plugging it into a router.

I have connected it as it says in the instructions. The orange wire goes from the orange socket in the fon to a socket in my belkin wifi router. I can log in to the fonera and my pc shows that its connected to the internet. There's a register button, I click on it and it fails to bring up the next screen, the internet connection is now not connected. Another 2 hours wasted.
The fon device is the one offered on the Fonera website. Model FON2412A.

For what it's worth I would stop connecting the Fonera to your Belkin router. Plug the Fonera into your laptop or desktop and change its settings so that it only acts as a wifi extender (as per the support link in my previous post). Then just plug it in to the mains and let it use your existing wifi network, it should still create the Fon hotspot. If it still doesn't complete the registration process, then you could try the long hand method as here https://support.fon.com/hc/en-us/ar...ter-the-Fonera-via-the-registration-web-page-

Don't know what your work IT situation is but you would need to know the work wifi settings in order to configure the Fonera to function as a wifi extender as per this link https://support.fon.com/hc/en-us/ar...xtend-WiFi-coverage-at-home-using-the-Fonera- You should then be able to see both the work wifi login and myplace and choose which you want to use. Myplace may be slower as it is only using part of the available bandwidth. Other devices within wifi range will also find both connections but mplace is secure in terms of your personal details as long as you set it up!

Ok, will give it a go.
I hope BT's potential purchase of EE doesn't make them want to drop FON.

Set it up this morning at work, first I set up an email address with talktalk just for use on fon, plugged the simpl in and then using 'base station' router/modem registered on fon, then accessed simpl and changed it to wifi, the one oddity is that it asks for a pin which you don't have, you need to click on 'line' below and then enter password from back of simpl, that caught me out for a while.
Next was a walkaround trying locations to best extend the wifi, this is when the limitations of the devise become evident, it's not the best wifi/wifi extender, but got there in the end, I might get an ethernet cable and use that, time we'll see how it goes.
I next tried logging in as fon customer, must have been around an hour after registering, worked straight away.
