I've finally managed to do the insulation on the van. One layer of silver bubble wrap one layer of wool insulation one layer of silver bubble wrap followed by original ply lining boards.
I'm going to cover the floor in pallet slats. Sand and wood stain them. I'm also thinking to do the same to the walls.
Question. Will the ply lining still take the weight of the pallets screwed into them?

Thanks in advance.

I love you all 😛

Ever think of using laminate flooring hard wearing, water proof, thinner, lighter, and possible to pick up end of line from B&Q, Wickes etc fairly reasonable. I've used them in a lot of applications not just floors

Pallet slats ? I assume you are going to dry / season them or you will end up with them warping, bowing and shrinking.
Personnelly from experience I would avoid them if possible as they are usually made with cheap poor quality timber.

Pallets are made from the cheapest timber they can find so whats the point in spoiling the job. You will only finish up having to do it again and it's never as much fun second time round. Think you should also consider the weight. They are not light bits of timber.

How heavy are pallet lats?

Consider van loading before deciding as taking them all out after you find your van weighs 4 ton will not do your blood pressure any good.

I've seen a VW T5 conversion done with pallet slats and it looked OK. Not the easiest things to take apart without destroying them.

i use a lot of pallets, it's a good resource, pallets from sheet metal firms are anything up to14 foot long and the slats are often very dry and light.even still, if i was cladding a van wall i'd plane the timber down to max 1cm , then glue it to the ply
i made a tool for breaking pallets up, if you have a welder it's simple enough

Laminate BQ end of line, put down bubble wrap with spray glue then the same with the laminate, thats what i did and it worked 100%

Is it a bit like this Batten Lifter, Floor Board lifter, Roofing Tool | eBay

that's the idea, but i made it with an 8 foot handle, some of those nails have an amazing grip !

That's because they nail pallets with annular ring shank nails so they don't fall apart and they're a pig to remove cleanly. Generally it's not worth the effort to take a pallet apart.
