Yes the sea front is still ok , but don't know for how long. Fleetwood is one of the most deprived town in England and they don't want our pennies by the look of things lately

Am not convinced that sign is legal as it doesn't seem to state what the penalty charge is, which I think is needed in order to be able to enter into the contract. And also no mention of the relevant traffic regulation order unless I missed it.

Also I see that "delivery vehicles" are not allowed to park - I wonder what the definition of this is according to the council? - does this apply to any van or just to commercial vehicles as designated by livery? Does that also apply to cars used for delivery purposes?

But even if the legalities of the above sign are dubious, the meaning is clear - it is effectively lost as an overnight spot. A shame that the local council couldn't recognise the income generation potential of offering overnight parking for motorhomes for a reasonable fee.

Why should they need a TRO in a off road car park.

The sign is almost certainly legal/legitimate.

The relevant Off Street Parking Places Order is cited. This defines what is or isn't permitted.

Very popular spot,we've stayed a few times and like most people who do ,spend money there, whether it's the Asda or the local fast food outlets.Silly if they put a stop to it.

It suffers from a defect.

According to the notice - you can park there. You can also park there overnight. Free.

What you can't do, if you're obedient, is camp there or sleep there - day or night. If you do this then the council threatens a Penalty Charge Notice. This threat is an empty one. There is no longer a PCN Code for “camping, sleeping”; the PCN Code for this was withdrawn a number of years ago - probably for the obvious reason that sleeping could not be proved. http://www.britishparking.co.uk/write/Documents/Contravention_code_list_v6_7.pdf for a list of PCN Codes.

I don't see what code can be used and a PCN is not valid without one.

Many many many years ago Fleetwood was the Blackpool of the north, till people realised that you could not drive through then it was that you could drive through Blackpool so that is why it is now were all the action is, it was in Fleetwood where the trams started, when you go to see the lights today thay are not like thay used to be, 90% of the trams were full of lights now, not that many.

Fleetwood was one of the biggest fish ports in the UK.

When we were there last year there wasn't many trams that had lights on compared to just a few years ago

Many years ago I was a conductor on those illuminated trams!
If people would just park for a day or two these places would not be lost, but just a few choose to stay for weeks, and others set out chairs tables and even barbacues and fires, so inevitably with time they are lost as well to those who would leave no trace and merely park as opposed to setting up camp.

I have said it before its the minority that spoils it for the majority

Do you know that this is what happened in this case? Have you seen long time stayers and campfires on this car park?

And do we leave it at that? A tired resignation that this is what will happen everywhere? And it will. Do you have a solution to the problem you have identified?

Councils have adequate powers to control ant-social behaviour though banning the cause of problems (you and me) rather than controlling the problem has a beguiling simplicity but there is a profound injustice in punishing the many for the transgressions of the few. In this respect, though councils always tell us it is the problems of the few and they have received numerous complaints, there has never yet been a case where councils have been able to demonstrate this and it's my guess that, if Wyre is asked for details of any complaints from the public, there will have been none - or maybe one or two, no more.

Do you think, perhaps, the council could be persuaded to apply rules and powers it already has to punish the minority rather than the majority?

Is there a reason why we shouldn't question Wye Council on which Penalty Charge Number they will be using?

It seems as if there are a lot more MHs being sold but more and more places are stopping us from going there
I was talking to dealer he told me that elldis could not supply a new van until 2017 .if you go on popular sites motor home's seem to equal number of caravans .Make's me think wilders are small minority.

Actually my point was more general. However I do know a resident from opposite the area in Cleveleys who justifiably had such complaints and I have seen long term vans there set up with even gas bottles on the pavement. Some of these may well have moved to Fleetwood with the closures at Cleveleys.
I very much agree that there are better ways to deal with the problem than blanket bans.
