first trip up to scotland wild spot needed

theres plenty of places near to the memorial to stay,.........on the way up from spean bridge theres a turning on the lefthand side into a wooded area, its a dirttrack but takes a motorhome easily, just drive in there , go over the bridge and after about 2-300 yards theres a parking area...theres also plenty of laybyes on the main road

My wifes Uncle was a wartime Commando (No. 1 Commando). If he was still alive he would be wondering what you are on about. You do not disrespect anyone if you have travelled there to spend a bit of time and remember these brave men. You would disrespect them by passing by without a thought.

Motorhomers are generally a thoughtful and law abiding gang. I cannot see what the fuss is about. Just let common sense guide you.

When you say 'on the way up' - in which direction please? I'd like to add this to the POIs :)

Thanks.

Chris

chris, bear with me regarding the dirtrack,it cant have been after spean bridge because i've looked on google and cant see it....so i'm going to try and retrace our route and find the spot i'm on about,it wasnt in the poi's.....
we were there in february so i'm sure i'll find it.

Simple...... Someone suggested the memorial car park as a possible stopover, someone else later politely gave their opinion that in their view it would be wrong to use it for that purpose.

We are all entitled to share our views on any subject, though we don't ask everyone else to agree or take notice.

Appologies Scampa, I flicked through Rolly's post and missed him suggesting the memorial earlier in the thread.

Regards,

Gary

By all means stop at the memorial and pay your respects, I did in January, but there are plenty of places around there to wild camp, so if there is a chance of it being seen as disrespectful, maybe best to stop somewhere else nearby.

On your way to glen coe there is a right turn marked Glen Etive It is also called the lonely glen. Its a very remote spot. Glen Coe is too busy. Spend time there but stay at Glen Etive there is a loch at the end of the road and perhaps the odd fisherman but very quiet

OOps sorry make that a left turn to Glen etive I forgot you were driving north

as this is my first van I too am looking for quiet remote spots to spend time. Its a bit of a steep learning curve at the moment so any advice is welcome. I do know scotland well but not with a campervan head on
