First trip to Northern France advice needed.

Just had a thought, if staying on Aires most of the time or even municiple sites will my electic cable work fine or do I need an adapter or something?

French aires/municipal campsites use either the standard 3 pin connecter that we use in the UK or a two-pin connector, so you will need an adaptor to make sure that you are equipped for all eventualities. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding this adaptor in France, and once you have it you will find that it is useful in other parts of Europe - especially in the east. To be fully equipped for anything you might meet in Europe you will also need the German two pin adaptor, which is widely used in Scandinavia and Iberia as well.

Thanks John, is the polarity the same? I do have a 2nd orange lead (unused), is it worth me crossing it over so I have a reversed polarity lead?

You've really opened a can of worms with that one! The French two-pin plug can be put into the socket either way round so polarity will probably differ every time you plug in! Personally, I don't bother about it because modern vans are equipped to deal with reversed polarity and I have never had a problem with either of my last two vans. Others will say you will die unless you get a polarity tester! You pay your money and you take your choice.
