Fire extinguisher

This may be usefull to all those that do not have a fire extinguisher in thier van or need to change the one they have because it's old and could do with renewing.
LIDL are getting some in on Tursday 7th Feb and they are cheap.

With presure gauge.

CO2 cartrige with ABC powder.
A: fires caused by combustion of solid material: wood, paper, straw,textiles, coal, and car tyres,

B: fires caused by combustion of liquids or materials that liquefy:
petrol, benzene, oils, fats, paints, tar, ether, alcohol and paraiffin.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
C: fires caused by combustion of gases, methane, propane, hydrogen, acetylene, natural and city gas. Only £4.99

WE carry 2 fire extinguishers and a fire blanket.
And a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm:D

That's what i cipro thought got to be worth it, i have already got one in in my van but i am going to have one of those ones aswell better to be safe than sorry. :)

Just buy it. Only to keep up with reglementations...;)
When you should need it on one or another disaster (this goes for any make):
1. The thing says 'pfffft 'and nothing else.:mad:
2. The expiring date is just passed away:rolleyes:
3. If it miracoulisly works: it will have no result at all:confused:
4. Run away and call fire works; they could be there the same day :eek:
5. Keep smiling: at least you won't have cold feet:p
It's good though to have it, it gives at least a 'sence' of security. :D
But in France they say: 'tape à l'oeil'; (or an official ripp-off):D
 
Halon is still legal for certain types of fire but I believe that they have to operated remotely.
I think that Halon is carcinogenic. There's everything that you wanted to know and maybe a bit more HERE
The worst thing is that Halon is really good at knocking down a fire and there is no direct replacement for it
 
i carry a extinguisher also a carbon monoxide and a smoke alarm, but if the van caught fire i think i will get every body out as fast as pos as they tend to go up in flames very very quickly. the van can be replaced we cannot be.

Yes mandrake i think we would all agree that everyones safety is paramount and would allways be put before the loss of propety. :)

I agree with you that a fire extinguisher is a "must"
but over the years, I've had them in cars, vans, caravans,
campervans, boats, and in the workplace,
but I've never, ever, had to use one
am I alone in this or has any-one, ever,
actually used a fire extinguisher to put out a fire?

Evening Sundown,
I have never had to use one touch wood, But i always have one close by when the wife is cooking. :)

I once used a extinguisher but to no avail when i worked on fairground my mate came back from pub with a cig in his gob he forgot to turn gas off at bottle earlyer in day opened door took one step inside BANG the sides and roof blew out he ended up 40 feet away on his back fast asleep and to this day he cant remember it oh bye the way the extinguisher was not much use.
 
I once used about 40 x 3lbs dry powder fire extinguishers on a petrol fire in a boat.
We kept it under control while waiting for the fire brigade and it was just smoldering when they arrived.
WE had no more extinguishers left at the boatyard:eek:
