Finished our build ….

…. at last ! We sold our Rapido some time ago and did without for a year or two but then we got the itch again. So we found a suitable steed, a LWB sprinter 313 An ex- ambulance driver training vehicle, never fitted out as an ambulance and very well looked after. I spent this summer, about 5 months doing a full off grid conversion. We did half the Snowdonia 360 a month ago and are planning Scottish lowlands in February. Anyone any experience of Michelin Aegis Cross Climate tyres as this is what’s fitted. Have heard they are reasonable in mid and snow. Some pics below.

Michelin Aegis Cross Climate tyres

Great all rounders, I love the wet/snow grip and the quiet motorway driving, but most of all I love the sureness they bring. I’ve ran them on Iveco works van and Sprinter Motorhome just great. My Shogun is currently on BFG All Terrains and I’m seriously thinking about changing to cross climates and as someone who spends winters in the Highlands that’s quite a change.

Re the Cross Climates, I can only vouch for the car/SUV version, and yes they are much better than standard summer tyres in snow, and whilst not designed for off road use they are also much better than standard tyres in mud, just remember it doesn't mean you can drive wherever you want without considering you might sink in. Last night I drove across a muddy field in our Suzi without even engaging 4x4, a Sprinter 'support vehicle' with standard road tyres came to a halt with zero grip.

Same, only got Cross Climates on a car, great all season tyre.
If there were no BFG tyres, Agilis Cross Climates are what I'd put on the van.

There have been several generations of Cross Climate tyres, the latest ones I've had on the Suzi appear to be a little more suited to off road, I'd not call it a off road tyre, buts suits our use for a all round car that we use mostly on road but also around the farm. I was looking at a van with Cross Climates on a few weeks back and they where much more 'aggressive' than any other Cross Climate I'd seen before and when I looked on Michelin website they now market the van Cross Climate as suitable for off road which I've never seen them do before.

Still haven't sorted out alloys and tyres but as a fellow newbie I wish you good luck! Nice build! Is that a Truma boiler? I went with the Bobil and 3 months in the heat exchanger has cracked giving us a catastrophic leak yesterday Bobil have said they'd send me a high pressure replacement at half price so that's commendable. But I guess you pay for what you get.
