That looks good and handier than the way I did mine. I think I might redo to your method.I made one from alloy and it bolts to the spare door swing holes on the top, easy peasy job.

A the catch would not be tight on the door seal it may not work, unless you used a sponge stuffed into the door gap leaving the rest free to breath, good idea wildbus, must look into that.Something that could be useful on that catch ... Have a second position so you can lock the door into place but slightly open to allow ventilation if switched off and need to drive the van.
