Finally a break !. the South West

The Pitchup website can be quite useful for finding cheap deals as well on campsites. This time of year you might get a bargain.

Your missing nothing Roly maybe only just that I have looked, and its all very comprehensive except though for access and egress..we are a tad over 8m and while used to times of year here up here and the traffic and also having local knowledge I just put it out here for feed back as we are heading into different territory...and I know I may cause carnage being quite 'long' tis all...I believe its what the site is for, thanks all.
Absolutely ask away in here, although this is more about wild camping than many others. The only reason I mentioned it is that I’m still surprised by how many don’t know about it. Even those that do know, don’t always realise how you can set the parameters e.g. search for a site, listing only those that are near the coast, taking large vans, accepts dogs, open all year, with a pool, with HS, with facilities, etc etc etc. Plus then use it as a satnav to get there. As I always say to those on the pubstop FB groups, you may get a few recommendations on there (FB) but you’ll get hundreds on SFS.

But if you already know about it then 👍 and as you say, 8m brings its own challenges.

You could try a couple of caravan club sites, one is at Tewksbury, just off the motorway and in the middle of town, lovely abbey there. Secondly Moreton in the Marsh in the Cotswolds, pretty town with shops etc. Both should take a long van and are all year round. Trevedra farm campsite in Sennen, Cornwall has some year round pitches, long way down near Lands End, but stunning beach, Gwenver down below the site. Buses available to St Ives from there.

When we visited Salisbury we stayed overnight here. There's a bus into the city. Car park was quite full, ok in our 6m PVC. There was a big Hymer parked when we left. Car park has a fresh milk machine.

Wilton, nest Salisbury, stayed there one night. Huge car park, plenty of space. Worth it for St Mark & St Nicolas church, especially if there is a volunteer there to show you around. The church interior was created from 'salvaged' material from all over.
