Hello everyone my question is this I went upto the van today to check the levels and do some maintenance etc.
Now on checking the oil I found it to be really low I have googled this and found people saying that the engines do use oil. What oil do I need to top up with.
Fiat ducato
2.3
130 bhp
2016

Thanks for the help

If you go onto Euro car parts web site then put your reg number in then search for oil it will tell you.
But I would have thought it will be 10/30 synthetic

Maybe it's time to have an oil change and start off with fresh oil.

I put my reg in and it didn’t cone up on the euro parts site

It will tell you the correct grade / viscosity in the Fiat Ducato owners manual that came with it

You need a low SAPS oil otherwise you are risking DPF problems down the line.

Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W30 meets the Fiat spec and I've found Opie Oils amongst the cheapest suppliers. If you only need 1 litre they sell it on eBay with free delivery, whereas there will be a charge if you go direct to their website.

Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0w-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil - 1 Litres 1L | eBay

My manual says that spec but recommends Petronas, which isn’t always easy to find.

We’ve used about 0.75 litres in our first 7,000 miles.

Any 5/30 -5/40 or 10/40 sinthetic or semi will be ok,big problem for engines using oil is the fact there not used much or driven to slow, engines need to work hard to force rings against cylinder wall.
If a engine has over 40 th miles and burning oil it may be to late as bore is glassed.
It is however known that some newish engines do infact use oil ,i would speak to a fiat tec.

Looks like their not recommending oil grades any more but there is a 35% discount code which runs out tonight = WEEKEND35

There's always a discount promotion of one type or another on ECP. Their "normal" prices are artificially inflated and the discounts bring them down to a level broadly competitive with other suppliers. I usually find Opie Oils slightly cheaper than ECP after their "discounts" for example. Of course, if you want it now and have a ECP nearby, the convenience might outway the savings!

All motor manufacturers will recommend a particular make of oil, either as a marketing tie in or in Fiat's case, I believe they have a link to that company. They also publish a specification for the oil required, which in this case is Fiat 9.55535-S1. Any ACEA C2 oil meeting or exceeding the quoted Fiat spec will be fine. You will often find that even in the authorised dealer network, they will be using a different make of oil to the manufacturer's "recommendation", albeit meeting the same specification.

5W30 or 0W30 weights will both be OK. Fiat originally recommended 5W30 on earlier Euro 5+ engines, but changed to 0W30 and now recommend it for all Euro 5+ and Euro 6. The only practical difference is a lower viscocity during cold starts which helps meet the ever increasing environmental quest for lower fuel consumption.

None there this morning but will look occasionally

Comes up with code SAVE33 on my browser. "33% off car parts online".

Using Shell Helix Ultra ECT 0W30 as an example: ECP for 1 litre £21.49 !!!!!!! but with code £14.40. Same 1 litre bottle from Opie Oils £11.95 via eBay with free delivery.

And today it's the ECP Mid Month Sale!

Roll up, roll up folks. By entering code MID36 at the checkout you too can benefit from 36% discount on our artificially inflated prices, making you believe that you have just got the deal of the century by paying a price the same or slightly higher than what's available elsewhere...
