At least you got sorted and also good advice given on here,good idea for us all to carry a filter,sump plug and gallon of oil.
Once i saw a oil switch break of and loose all engine oil in about 20 seconds,some one had over tightened it .
Glad alls well.

I used to find in the dealership many guys overtightening filters causing oil to escape the sealing ring
