At long last we are going to head South to find the sun. I think all the niggles with new MH are sorted. Just got to pack everything for trip to Dover on Wednesday and catch ferry at 9.25 am Thursday morning.

I'm a happy bunny:rabbit: and now we know what we can/can't carry (payload issue) it makes decisions 'shall we take this or that and taking stuff, just in case, the MH will not just be lighter I am sure we will enjoy without a lot of extra 'stuff'. Not sure how John will cope though as he likes 'stuff'.

Hope to see some of you down in Spain or France or Germany or wherever we get to.

We won`t be that far behind you :boat:

Just got a funeral to get out of the way and the MOT and VED then all being well pack and go :drive:

Overnight at Canterbury P&R then a cheap as chips ferry to Calais

We are heading to the brother-in laws new property near Colina del Sol via The Camargue then over towards the Pyrenees

Ferry

I know I am daft, but what is cheap as chips?
Our motorhome is 22ft and the average cost is £60 a crossing. I think that's expensive going on the fact that "My Ferry " used to cost £44. I use P&O, if anyone gets it cheaper please let me know.!

Hi folks, we just returned from a winter trip to Spain/Portugal/France and can see your excitement at your prospective travels. By now you all must have innumerable places planned to go if you been following the "Spain Portugal where are you" thread. Wooie, sadly a funeral followed by MOT for us too...but then England tours for us (is that a banana LOL ?) Anyway, all you southbound have a great time....maja

....Oh, the Canterbury P&R is good value..good stopover before Dover. Maja

Just cost us £64 - £20 dearer than last year! Cheapest way to get across the channel.

We use it every time we go down

Always drive down from Penwortham the day before then it doesn`t matter how long it takes and or if we get held up.

Don`t do the last minute panicking jobbie i.e. sat nav says it will take 3 hours 22 minutes so well give it 3 hours 45 minutes to be on the safe side :rolleyes2:

I believe it`ll cost us £6 this time though instead of the usual £3 due to them changing the " 24 Hour Period " definition :mad2:

24 hours used to mean 24 hours from arrival on the ticket but it`s now from midnight to midnight so an overnight stay incurs 2 X £3

I know you can save a couple of quid by arriving after 4pm but we like to get there earlier than that then jump on the bus ( included ) and pop into Canterbury.

It`s really quiet there and we always get a good nights sleep then it`s a short drive ( 20 minutes ) down to the port :drive:

Really looking forward to it as we didn`t get away last September due to unforeseen circumstnaces

Yes, now you mention it, we also paid for two days so we could have a good day n Canterbury, we found the parking area surprisingly quiet too.

Colina del Sol sounds good..near Calpe where my sister has just been in her van, she said it was great.

Penwotham eh...just down the road from us in Fleetwood !! Maja

We should have gone on the 17th but SWMBO has got problems with a mole so having to wait for hospital to get it sorted. Re-booked for the 1st May just have to stay into July :D .. We were going to head down towards the South of Spain but we may well head to North West Spain instead if the weather is good. It looks really nice and we can always venture into Portugal.

Happy Travels Everyone

..
