Feeling brave ??

Thanks Jen;) ...it's silly really isn't it ?? but as you know there was more to it than meets the eye. Its just boosted my confidence no end. Its down to the likes of you and others that encouraged me to do this. I always admired the way you just got on with it !! It would be a shame for you to lose that Jen.

I will post some pics of the van in all her glory. She worked well for me and the dog, apart from knocking the water bowl over not just once, not twice but three times aaaaarrrrrggggggghhhh !!!.

x

I don't know why, but the only time that I really feel safe out there is when I know that you ladies are all gathering many miles away at some Girlies Meet! :)

But seriously, Well Done all of you! :):drive::)

Well done you! I'll have to do it now and you'll have to do the Applecross Pass! How did you decide where to stop? Look forward to chatting to you sometime. We seem to have similar "issues" ! :rabbit:

Dog bowl - get a smaller one than usual in stainless steel with a VERY wide open base & smaller bowl area, they are impossible to knock over & don't contain much water if kicked & easily withstand you stepping on it. Like this one, it doesn't need to be big, just refill it frequently if your mutt drinks it dry in seconds. Much more practical in a camper than plastic or pottery. probably even withstand being driven over if you go back & dig it out of the grass!

I bought one of these non-spill water bowls last year for use in my van...

Road Refresher Dog Bowl Travel Non Spill Large: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

They contain a "floating plate" type device that stops the water from spilling or slopping over when you're driving, but allows your dog to always have access to fresh drinking water from it. It also sticks firmly to the floor covering with it's attached Velcro.

I've done several thousands miles since, and had no problems with spillage at all. They come in various sizes and colours. :)

Hi scampa I just ordered one from amazon ...great reviews on these dog bowls thanks

Well done! fantastic achievement, wish I had the confidence to go it alone. Happy travels, hopefully there's still lots of summer to come.

I left yesterday lunchtime with the dog a book and some essentials. I headed down to the coast and after a good walk with the dog I had a afternoon siesta (very relaxing zzzzzzz). I feel like I cheated s bit because there was a few vans scattered around but felt reassuring.

I made sure before I went to sleep that everything was in place should I felt I wanted to go quickly.
Fell asleep and woke up thinking it was really late it was only 11.50, so back to sleep and slept soundly until 5.00 this morning.
I had to get back early because I have BT coming at 8.00, but I would of stayed at least another night.
I felt completely at ease and I think it was mainly having the dog there.

So I am feeling very proud of myself this morning :king:...I know its not such a massive thing, but for me its everything !! I have wanted to do this for so long I used to wish and hope that one day I would have these opportunities.

So I got some photos of my first sunset and sunrise this morning ............the first of many I'm sure

Yesss!!! Well done that woman - I'm so pleased you had such a lovely time.:banana::banana:Now you'll be off at the drop of a hat! There are always times when something dents your confidence a bit but if you follow sensible guidelines like you did then you can get so much out of a day and a night 'out there'. And Jen, I know that being such a feisty lady you'll get your confidence back again.

How about a confidence-building meet a bit later in the year and swap wild stories? Anyone fancy a private beach gathering along the Solway in the autumn? I know a place we could book in advance for up to maybe 20 vans...ah, but that's another thread - oops!

Thanks pink and Richard  ...I am getting itchy feet I wanna do it again and soon. Wont have an opportunity until a couple of weeks, but next time I will stay somewhere really remote, well that's the plan anyway.

Complete solitude oh yes please !!
