The readout on the digital ex temp guage has been fluctuating between +25 c
and +27c today. On starting the van this morning, the readout was already +25c.
Van is a Sprinter 313cdi. Something tells me it aint 25 degrees out there just now. Any ideas as to problem.?

Possible your temp guage is in Farenheit 0 degrees celcius is 32 degrees farenheit I think :confused::confused:

Have you left your greenhouse heater under the bonnet:D
Either that or it's knackered:p

Bill.

There is no Fahrenheit option on my Merc.

Other than that I can't help.

Was my frist thought, but as Derek says tis not an option.
Funilly enough the odometer reading this morning ended on 666.
Unexplained temp and 666, might need one of those priest blokeys to sort it.:)

Well if it is possesed then maybe AJ is correct and its telling you it wants to go to warmer climes, I should do it and take yourself off to Moroco or you may find yourself being haunted

External temp continued to slowly rise. Last night it was reading 70degrees c.
Today all is back to normal, reading 3.5. Can only assume it was a problem with the sensor that has now rectified itself.:)

Sounds like fun, maybe the very low temps affected it, good job its not the engine temp gauge that would be off putting if it was giving random temps

When you find out where it is, please put it on the forum. I have had a half hearted look for mine (its OK, touch wood) but could not find it.

In the meantime, go to Lidl. They are selling a digital temp gauge for £3.50. It shows inside and outside temps and has a digital clock. Ideal for a m/home.

Got a new battery charger as well (see Flat Battery thread)

ignore it and get a lidl one....had one for a year and checked it....spot one......for a few £ .....it's a no brainer...

I bought a Lidl one as well, fitted it on the dashboard & threaded the external wire down through the dashboard. Just need to locate it somewhere outside the van, I'm think of going down through the battery box & mounting it somewhere on the back of it, hopefully not close to the exhaust but out of the draught. Just need to wait for the snow to get washed away so I can get under the van.

Does not your internal charger charge the van battery when in the cab position?

Only worry if you get the alternative reading of the Greek, 616, then you are in REAL trouble!

Sorry not sure what your asking, thought it was about the temp. gauge  I threaded the wire with the outside sensor down through the dashboard & under the mat into the underfloor mounted engine battery box then to the outside. This gauge from Lidl also has a ice warning buzzer you can turn on, looked today & they had none left.

As for charging the batteries both mine are charged when on hookup without switching anything. Also on my van you can't use the engine battery for the caravan part there isn't any switch. All I have on my panel is a rocker switch that I can look at the volts, amps etc. for each one but this only operates while you are holding it.
On my last van it was the same, these both had the Schaudt Electrobloc system. From what I remember the charging is a 3 stage where it eventually goes to a float charge. I have also checked using a voltmeter that both batteries charge when on hookup.

If you have the Elektroblok 99 fitted, it can charge the Leisure battery up to 16 amps but only gives the engine battery a float charge.

If you ever had a flat engine battery and were in a hurry, you would need to charge it with an external charger.

Mine is the Electrobloc EBL 226 b apart from all the info relating to charging the leisure battery it also says 'For mains operation, the starter battery is also charged (with maximum charge current of 6 A)'
