expansion tank

hi all i,am looking for a header tank expansion cap for a fiat ducato 2.0 petrol 1988, anybody got one to sell or could someone point me in the in the right direction please, as i have tried the main dealers and motor factors and had no joy fatgaz

Hi, I think you want a header tank cap, OR an expansion tank cap. Basically they are the same thing, what used to be known as the old fashioned radiator cap.

I'm surprised you can't find one at a motor factors, it's a standard item that fits a whole range of vehicles.

Try looking on Ebay, you should find one cheap on there. :)

Hi fatgaz,

Why not have a look in a scrapyard and change the whole lot, rather than look for just the cap.

Take the old one with you to compare sizes with. Probably quicker and cheaper.
 
hi gazza, i think it's time to assume the head gasket's:eek: gone get a compression test done on it,smell the header tank when it's running can you smell exhuast fumes,the campin season is nearly here and if if fails out on the road a garage will flease you to repair it,trust me i,m a doctor:rolleyes:

had it checked at the garage the head is OK, but over here in Ireland it just a sod getting parts lol not like back home in england they don't even let you in to the scrap yard to have a look about but thank for your advice, i too am a yorkshire man and only moved over here last year , and like you say it getting near holiday time GREAT CANNOT WAIT LOL once again thanks

cheer Andy and nickit rang NO1 gear today and there sending me one in the post,also ordered some break pads and shoes just glad there so many helpful people on this site thanks again happy camping fatgaz
