As above, have you PERSONALLY actually been fined for ignoring?

I should probably have put up a poll,

Have you been fined when you ignored,

Yes,

No.

MODS, changey changey please 😁

Camped up at the rope museum in Hawes, I intended getting up early and be gone befor 6:00am, overslept, quickly got dressed, opened the internal blinds, condensation on the winscreen but I could just make out a shadowy figure, wiped a small section clear and saw the warden writing a ticket. Frig this for a game of soldiers, got into the drivers seat, key in ignition, blasted the horn, headlights on, warden jumped near 3 feet in the air. Started the engine and buggered off.

So the answer to your question is 'nearly'.

Assuming that was no overnight rather than permitted until x o'clock?

We had a morning knock at westward ho! and the parking guy said do you realise the time, you need a new ticket. Proper good attitude 👍

Nope, I did have a Nation Trust warden knock on the door to tell me that I wasn't allowed to stay overnight on some rough ground just outside Levant Mine in Cornwall, this was at 7:30 am after I had already stayed the night and was up and drinking my first cup of tea.

I think that's fine, (no pun intended) Just to encourage people not to take the p1ss

Ranger at Keilder Water wanted to move us on but we had had a drink (only one but didn't mention that) so the agreed compromise was an early dart in the morning. Never been fined but haven't been 4wheel wildcamping for very long

Yes. Ilfracombe - can't remember the year but probably abouit 2005, maybe earlier. I wrote about it on here - A long and mysterious tale - and it was the one thing that started my campaigning. The sign simply said "No Overnight Parking" and, frankly, I didn't believe it - the car park had quite a few cars parkign overnight and I saw no difference being a van. After three or maybe four nights I woke to a PCN on the driver's window but, strangely, none of the cars had one.

I used North Devon's appeals procedure and demanded proof that I'd broken some law. Novice at that time about off-street parking orders and TROs andthe council gave in surprisingly quickly. Made me wonder becasue I hadn't actually asked for a cancellation - only proof of an offence.

That was the start of it all and I very quickly became aware that many council signs were erected without authority (and thanks to a distinguised member - Alf -on here with his work on the Highland Council's signs) and that councils would quite happily lie about, among other things, public complaints, and what rules, signs and other things had a factual basis.

I think for years councils had been able to lie and get away with it but, from some time in the nineties or the 2000's this became difficult as people became aware of legislation being publishe don the internet and things lile the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection Laws.

I think I haven't. But the signs are for insurance purposes. So you can, but can't make a claim, when the van next to you burns cars and vans on there land.

Never, but did get told off once for parking overnight at Mallaig harbour. It wasn’t for parking overnight but for obscuring a wall mounted life belt 😳
