European breakdown cover

I checked with 3 and yes you can call a number in another Feel At Home destination if you're in another Feel at Home destination:

What's included:
  • In Feel at Home in Europe: calls and texts back to the UK and made between our Feel at home in Europe destinations.
  • In Feel at Home Around the World: calls and texts to UK (within allowance).
  • Calls and texts to UK numbers (within your standard allowance).

It's odd that you pay extra to call Germany when you're in the UK - but as I say it can be worked around.
 
I'm not with 3, but maybe their service mirrors this new EU roaming directive and could apply to other providers the same? One for me to check :)
And thanks for reminding me about 18185. Just redone my account with them :cool1:
 
Thanks to everyone for their input. Looks like the breakdown companies will only cover for trips up to 30 days per trip 3 times a year so stuck with their grossly inflated prices for a 6 month trip!
 
European cover

Hi,

Might be worth checking out motorhome and caravan club membership (£49) and then their red pennant cover.

Membership brings a lot of useful stuff and red pennant can cover breakdown and travel insurance for up to 9 months.

We are going euro touring next year and intend to use this (unless anyone has better ideas).
