European break down cover...19yr old van

I'm currently looking for European breakdowncover for my 2000 ford transit ambulance conversion...

I'm a caravan club member, and was banking on using red pennant, but having used the online quote today it like OKs like they won't cover vans over 16 years old.

I've had a quick try with a couple other providers, only to find they won't cover the van because of the age!

Anyone recommend a good provider of euro cover for older vans? I was hoping to leave next Sunday, and have a couple weeks following the tour de France!

I use L&V for my 31 year old van. They also give you 180 days in EU, whereas most are 90.

Nationwide Flexplus Current Account give max. 180 days single trip European Cover
for Motorhomes up to 7.5 tonnes and 8m length, no age limit stipulated.
The account monthly charge is £13 so cover will cost you £156. But if you
keep up to £2500 in the account you currently get about 3% interest,
so the insurance effectively costs about £80.
There's also Travel Insurance included plus more features.

There's only one potential snag, the service is provided by L.V. Britannia
and on their standalone recovery policy they state that the m/home must
be a coachbuilt recognised make. But on the cover they provide to Nationwide
Flexplus they make no mention of this as a requirement, effectively a homebuild
is not specifically excluded.

Don't know if your van (or anyone elses van) is a selfbuild/home conversion but the Policy
Document makes a passing reference as to what to them constitutes a motorhome.
It's not exactly small print but...

We have RAC arrival breakdown and recovery through the Camping & Caravan Club. To the best of my knowledge there is no age restriction on any vehicle you are in as driver or passenger. The minor downside is that you need to be a C&CC member. However membership also has its plus points.

Anyway another option to check out.

Not much help for right now, maybe a thought for the future, we have ours added onto our insurance.
