Ok guys / gals this is not our usual drop but we are off to see Paul Simon in Manchester and Burrs Country Park probably the nearest site but we are in a quandary.

We have been away for nearly nine weeks. The MH is filthy it has red sand streaks everywhere. We have a broken windscreen and a tear in the Awning. Neither of us have many clean clothes left and I haven’t had a shave for a couple of weeks.

So do we get it cleaned and polished with all the Crome buffed. Do we get our clothes laundered and shorts pressed. Do I visit the barbershop or ..

Do we just turn up as we are. Park the wrong way round and just ignore the comments.

Well I would just turn up, my money is as good as anyone else and if they want to turn us away they can, never been to a C&MHC site though and if they worry about stuff like that I dont think I will bother :)

At the prices they charge, perhaps it includes free cleaning and valeting? ;)

We live by this "If folk don't like what they see then to bad for them, it's their loss" Same as when we get visitors, "take us as you find us and if you don't like the way we are then leave" simple really, turn up as you are....

I have seen more freakish looking people with money than those without. Grunge is still in fashion so go for it.

oh..get a good shower....clean clothes and feel fresh and refreshed...........as for the van......why waste energy in this weather.........just enjoy yourselves.

I think they will be able to live with the filthy people, the facial hair growth, the cracked windscreen etc.

But parking the wrong way round? :scared::scared::scared:

Never! You'll be tarred & feathered then barred for life.

I think it is actually in the rules about having a clean van too
We use a C&MC site in winter as the seasonal pitch is cheaper than paying for gas heating, the winter wardens tend to be more laid back .

I seem to remember you are right certainly the case in the old CC club and they got funny with tuggers using sign written works vans etc.. Some sites ran like a car dealership forecourt oblivious to the fact people are touring and vehicles get dirty

Yes and they will park you on top of the septic tank assuming they allow them on at all.

They have to keep their standards up otherwise they will have people emptying their toilet cassette in the bushes and dumping their rubbish rather than putting it in the waste bin.

I say give them 12 hours to be washed and shaved in fresh clean clothes with the bus spotless or move them off.

Never mind washing esp the arm pits as the strong smell of unions keeps nosey people away, put on a southern irish accent as this is a winner and sure to be let into most camp sites.:scared:

I was talking to a farmer and he said I can be standing in my own field and I can't stop them coming on.

And that's just the wild campers !

You beat me to it. FWIW, we use CC sites fairly regularly during 'low season' as the facilities are almost invariably immaculate and we get to pump and dump (typically just before a music festival where we won't have a chance to empty our cassette again for four days!) In the past, I've turned up in an (unsignwritten) van towing a caravan that has a light dusting of algae and the wardens haven't batted an eyelid. But park any way other than parallel to the pitch edge or with rear, offside corner of the outfit not aligned with the marker peg ... :scared:

I suggest you phone the campsite and ask them rather than rely on comments from here. I have always received very good service from my 5 years of membership of the C&cc. They are the only organsiation I know that allow a single, senior rate and for me it is very cheap.

They would not allow you to wash your van but of course the beautiful facilities will enable you to shower, wash your hair, wash your clothes ( often cheaper than the high street) empty the toilet and fill with water.

Pretty good I would say.

Wasn't sure the OP was being serious but I think you are !

I've found C&MC to be ok on the few occasions that I've used their sites. In contrast CCC have had some fairly officious warders.

SC=Some are mentally challenged rejects from the Gestapo school . I often stopped at the Clumber site in Nottinghamshire as wardens changed some were great and others not so almost an inconvenience people turning up and daring to camp !

You might remember in the early days lots of meets at Hayfield which was a Caravan and camping club and people have happy memories the wardens particularly welcoming

We've only had.one experience with the Caravan and Misery Club.. And that was only an emergency one night stand. They wouldn't let us onto the site, proper, but allowed an extended hook up, owing to an explosive gas fridge problem,in our 3day old van.
They still charged us full whack however.
Not our kind of people, actually ..

Go as you are, it will give the Volvo Estate crowd something to write to the magazine about. :lol-061:
