engine needed to save my beloved camper truck

Hi everyone,
If anyone knows of a Renault master t35d diesel 1989 engine being sold please contact me as mine blew up beyond economical repair sadly and I'm desperate to get back on the road again!
Many thanks

Have you looked into your engine having major surgery? I Don't know your engine but is it a wet lined engine or would it need re boring? Is the crankshaft salvageable, can you have it reground, are you able to have the head machined and the valves and seats recut? Can you still get a full engine gasket set I would think so. If these engines are so rare now would this be an option?

Blimey that's grim news for me, but I do appreciate the info. Looks like I'm up the creek without a paddle!!

Looks like the repair option on mine is the only option!! I'm going to get a quote on repairing but I've been told it won't be economical at all so I'm still going to hold out some hope that someone somewhere has one

Your engine is known as a SOFIM engine (named after the factory its built in). They were used in Fiats, Ivecos & Renaults.

And there aren't any left in the country. We needed one for my dad's 1992 Ducato MH and have spent months looking. Only option is to find a complete running van, or try Ebay France/Italy etc..

We've had a 2.8 Iveco engine fitted now (collect it next week) by a company in Derby. They've used the original gearbox and other ancillaries. Only the flywheels has had some work done. But it has cost £2000 including the engine. But the van interior suits my parents perfectly so they've splashed out.

What happened to your original engine, perhaps Olly could make up a decent one out of the two of them if you still have it.

Previous owner fitted an aftermarket turbo, which wasn't suitable for it. It blew itself to bits on the A75 leaving a 2p sized hole in the head!!! About the only thing undamaged is the sump!!! So I believe they scrapped it.

Go on eBay there is a traffic bein broke a blue one he is breaking a master aswell

Ebay number 280827659125. I saved a search with Ebay, they have just sent me an email with this one. Don't think its the same one as Spock has suggested.

Many thanks for that info, sadly ronnie is breaking a 1995, I need a 1989. There is some hope with the other eBay link, I'm still waiting on a reply email but the engine does match visually, albeit I've been informed that even if it's the same I may find that the flywheel/ gearbox / mountings may be different!
I'll keep all posted
Kind regards
Olly

problems!!

Well I've finally got my mechanic to attempt the fitting of this engine and sadly there are 2 differences preventing the alignment.
We are now welding a bracket and redesigning a spigot bearing housing to see if we can get any further.
It seems this quest is far from over, I'll keep all posted
Regards
Olly

success is mine ;-)

Hi all,

At last after many months of searching for engines and then adapting the chosen one, my beloved camper is back on the road!!!!
Cost in total for mechanical fitting and adaption with all fluids etc was £600.
Hope to see you all on the open road and thanks so much for the help
Kind regards
Olly

Glad to hear you are back on the road again, is the new engine more powerfull or is it the same size?

It's more powerful but the same engine just in a much better condition with more power! I can go up hills in 2nd gear which was unheard of with original one.
It's so good to see her running again ;-)
