Hi all

I have been down to the storage today to make sure all is ok with the M/H as we are going away in it tomorrow.
started the engine turned on the fridge to 12v and nothing it was working great 2 weeks ago,
checked under the bonnet but to be honest I don't have a clue what am looking for lol, there are 2 relays together and next to them are 3 fuses which I have checked and all ok,
Does anyone know what it may be or recommend anything to get it working as we could really do with the 12v working while driving tomorrow,

Thanks for reading
Paul

12v fridge

Paul the 12volt side only works with the engine running and can take a while to cool, it should be fed via one of the relays and will be fused at 10a you should be able to feel the relay click as it turns on.

Is the red switch turned on on the fridge facia some converters also put a switch on the dashboard as well

Alf

Hi alf

Yes I turned the engine over so I could check to see if the fridge was working but flicked the red switch (12v) while engine running and the red light did not come on,
there is no switch on the dashboard for it, like I say the 12v on the fridge worked great 2 weeks ago I just really don't under stand why its not working now,

I had a similar situ with my MH, no 12v, even after checking everything, with one exception, I didn't check a fridge end, which meant removing sink/gas rings.

Eventually what I did get at fridge end, was a fire, something on 12v side shorted out.

Please don't think my reply is meant to scare you, I'm purely sharing my unfortunate incident, fortunately, we were parked up, to this day, I wonder if I had checked connections at fridge end, fire would have been prevented and, all three ways working, as I only have gas to cool fridge now.

Cheers...........

Woww that does sound scary thank god you was parked up,
I also have not took the fridge out yet as did not have the time today

Wisper,

do you have separate switches for the 12v/gas/240v

if so remember you need to have the 12v on, and the other 2 off

Hi steco

Thanks for replying,
all 3 knob's are turned off

Paul

So with the 12v on, Gas and 240v both off. start engine and 12v should work, if not what is the model number, go on electrolux/dometic websites, have a look at their service manuals, there may be a hidden fuse.

Could possibly be a factory reset

Steve

oops well if it does not I look a right plonker, wont tell you I was down the storage yard for 3 hours thinking why its not working

We all do silly things, lets hope it is that simple, suggest you check it next time you are there.

I had exactly the same issue many moons ago on a trip to Spain.

just looked at a video and even if the knob is off the 12v should still switch on(red)

Mine never used to, the actual red switch only illuminated when it was switched on and engine was running, what is the fridge model.

Yes mine should do the same (only when engine is running)
not sure off the model without looking, trying to find it online now

Have you removed the terminals on the relays and cleaned them, if the van has been standing over winter there could well be corrosion on them.

Hi
No I have not removed them, am off to wales today once I get there I will give them a clean up and see if that helps

thanks

I rarely use mine on 12v, last time I did I forgot it and flattened the batteries.... Anyway, I really wouldn't worry if it's working or not, if you want to keep things cool then just keep the door shut and maybe use an ice block or something, England in April I think you'll be ok lol...

you say 'flattened the batteries' this suggests your fridge is incorrectly connected to the leisure batteries. having 12v is quite important as it keeps the fridge cool when driving,by running it,via a relay, off the main vehicle battery
