Electric bike/trike

Surely the above comment is down to interpretation Jac šŸ¤

Anyhooooo, I bought two of these from our local Halfords, possibly 2017, no later. Weight in at 18kg approx, all alloy, and fold to fit in your purse. What I like about the eCity is, the battery slots inside the cross member, so not as obvious a leccie bike. I note Halford website state not in stock. I have no regrets with my purchase. And for mileage example with doggy hut trailer fitted to mine, with dog inside, I did full circle of Rutland water with power left over, OK, I still have plenty Ooomph šŸ˜‚

We have 2 of these as well. No problem setting them up or using them. They are really good bits of kit,. I bought 2 carry bags for them as well which makes them easier to handle/manoeuvre into the garage in the MH. I did swap out Mrs GMJ's seat for a wider one which is more comfortable for her.

I've just sold this one as I've not used it in months it's a 500watt motor + a new 20amp battery I was goingbto put it on here but a mate of mine snapped it up for 500quid it's not for the faint hearted lolol

Hope you moved the brown marks from the seat Jeff. I left the mark there when you let me have a go on that bad boy, I looked at the speedo and it read 30+ mph. I would have paid you six hunner for that bad boy!

Some time ago I asked for ebike info

This is what I got my eye onā€¦
I think Iā€™ll feel safer on three wheels rather than two.

Whether people will feel the same is debatable šŸ˜‚

This is the kit I fitted to our tandem for less than Ā£400. https://www.yosepower.co.uk/product...36v250w-front-motor-36v15-6ah-hl-plus-battery
You'd probably need the same front wheel kit for a trike (you need to check your front wheel size). Yose Power is a reputable company, and their service was very good. The battery life is great for what we want (assist on hill starts, and a bit of help on steep bits - we live in North Wales!) It has 5 power assist levels, ranging from approx 8mph to 15mph (when it cuts out). The battery life depends on how much effort you put in and the terrain you're on.
It was very easy to do. You need the ability level of someone who can change a bike tyre. The most difficult thing for me was removing one of the cranks to fit the pedal sensor (I had to buy a crank puller tool for about Ā£10). There's a video here which gives an idea:
I don't know where you're based, but I have a friend in Flintshire whose looking to sell a folding Jorvik trike at the moment. He wants about Ā£250 for it.
You're welcome to message me if you want any more info about the trike or our tandem conversion.
There is also a CIC (community interest company) in Denbighshire called Drosi Bikes who do conversions and offer loads of advice: https://drosibikes.org/e-bike-conversion/
There is also a company in Essex called Woosh Bikes who sell kits and do conversions. Again, they are incredibly helpful: https://wooshbikes.co.uk/
I believe that if you ring either of these businesses they are always more than happy to help. They might ask for information about your bike and/or photos by email.
Here's my friend's Jorvik:

Thank you Wheelie,
Iā€™m very interested in your friends bikr, however I believe they come in two sizes I would need the 20ā€ as Iā€™m short šŸ˜…not sure what your friends bike. My brother lives in Llangollen so not far and I live in the south and could get to Essex for a conversion. I take it a conversion is as good as buying an electric bike and will have all the same functions ? Could I still have a power assist ?
Itā€™s really given me something to think about

Many thanks

I've just messaged him to ask about the size. I'll let you know.
Drosi Bikes are in Llangollen (very close to the Corn Mill), it might be worth just asking them for advice before you commit to buying a bike, their conversions are excellent. I have no experience of converting a trike, especially a folding one, so I'm not sure if there are any "trike specific" things you need to consider. I know for our tandem I had to take the extra bike length and drum brake into account when choosing the best kit to fit. I know mid-drives are considered better, I just couldn't make one work on our tandem, but it may be possible on a trike?

EDIT: Just received a message from my friend, his is a 24" Jorvik Dutch City model. I take it that this would be too big for you?

I guess these are like electric scooters: illegal to ride and you'll lose your driving licence in the unlikely event that you're caught. I'd not take the risk, given that a legal bike is no more expensive.
