As I discovered on the quayside at Dover you can no longer purchase a monthly Roaming Pass for £25.

There are only two ways to obtain roaming with EE now.

Pay £2.47 per day.

Or take out a contract that includes roaming. That is what I've had to do having only a week or so back taken out a new 24 month SIM only contract which I was assured would allow the monthly add on. They were fibbing!

Because I'm within the 14 day cancellation period I've take out another 24 month contract at £29 per month, £11 per month more than the cancelled contract. Both had unlimited data.

The person on the phone did not know if there's a data cap when roaming. The plan details state that roaming allows use of all the plan allowances...

I will post yet again the EE FUP.
Fair use amount If your domestic data allowance is greater than 50GB, a fair usage policy of 50GB whilst roaming in our Europe zone will apply (i.e. you can use up to 50GB from your allowance while roaming, subject to the charge described above). Once you’ve used your fair usage policy amount when roaming, we will notify you and surcharges will apply to continue using data when roaming in our Europe and Rest of World Zones.

I'm aware of this. However the EE person did not know whether or not this applies to their very new, since December 4th, bundled packages. The packages are significantly more expensive so I would hope that the data limits are higher...

I had a similar thing with EE, but it was more to do with ignorance than lying.
Sadly some on the other end of the line don't know what they are doing.

I recently had to pay £2.47 a day for each of our phones whilst in Tenerife, that was £35 for the week for something that used to be free before what happened.
The phone companies are getting away with this, this should be stopped.
Just think a family of four with mobile phones would pay £140 for a fortnight.
If the EU can legislate that these roaming charges cannot be applied throughout the EU, then why does our government not do likewise.
Its frustrating watching others from within the EU using their phones as if they are in their own countries, and we are being ripped of like this.

As a matter of interest only, I have an unlimited Tesco sim that I have used abroad for well in excess of any 25gb limit imposed by others. 100gb+ in April/May/June and 60gb+ more recently in Oct/Nov. They have mentioned that they have no intentions to reduce the useage in 2025, something they said last year as well. Luckily I got unlimited at £20 per month and it’s now £25.

Lebarra its the same in the EU as the UK with a 30gb cap and you can get it on prepay monthly £25.00 bonus you get the same if you go to India

Lebara also includes a term on using more in EU over 120 days period. Shouldn't worry those away for couple of weeks, but if away for full 90 days can be problematic.

EE are just catching up... Vodafone did this a year or so ago..barstewards

Other than Tescos that will only commit to free EU roaming until January 2026 , I think ID are about the best. 30GB of EU roaming which is currently suspended until further notice. https://community.idmobile.co.uk/roaming-international-48/roaming-72427
They also do One Month Contracts so if no good you can get rid , and you can get cash back via Top Cash back to cover the first month.

The problem that I see is "We’ll notify you when the promotion ends and when the 30GB Roaming data limit is reinstated."
If you've just started a 90-day trip on the basis that you can use up to 100GB/month in the EU and they then notify you that the roaming data limit is being reinstated immediately or within a few days/weeks, you are left having to come up with an alternative solution at short notice while in the EU. Not great. I seem to recall that Popit and/or RWG massively reduced roaming data allowance at very short notice - fortunately, I was not abroad at the time.

Yeah you are correct but I would hope ID would give a bit of notice. I did try Tesco for 10days and of course being on 02 the Data speeds in the uk were horrendous along with the prices not being cheap unless you commit to a 24 month contract and that could result in no EU data for the 2nd year, I cancelled within the 14 days .
The way I see it with ID is that they have a better Fair usage policy than most being 30gb of roaming when their Fair Use comes back into play, 1 month contract and very good monthly costs. Worst case as long as roaming doesn't go altogether with ID is that I would be stuck with 30GB for the remaining months in the EU and I would then purchase a local esim. I do have 2 ID's plus Tracey One too so we have 90gb to play with and all Three Contracts could be reduced to £24 ( 3 x £8 contracts at 60gb Data) so not a massive cost if I had to pick up a local esim for the remainder of the trip.

Also worth noting is that on my last 67 days EU trip I wasn't cut off and they do Esims now too so possibly 2 x £8 sims in One phone while away may be worth looking at.

The other option is going back to Chris's post and paying £29 for the fully loaded EE sim but this only seems to be an option during promotions.

Enjoy your EU trip, we start our 90 days again in March and are hoping ID keep the no cap on their data promotion.

Regards
