Ecoflow River 2

Cigy plug sockets are 10 amp max, thats why it melted, dont see any point in having ecoflow if you have proper batteries.
The ecoflow delta 2 provides 240 volts at 1500w that provides the opportunity to use micro wave oven toaster etc , I have a modern van with poor electrics so cannot fit lithium without major upgrades to my sargent system PS I have lead carbon battery bazz

It melted so quickly and badly I have not been able to check the plug fuse it's impossible to remove it
I get the fact that you've got a brand new ciggy socket but that doesn't count for a lot because the positive 'pin' connection especially has very low surface area, they may be ok for lighting a fag but that takes just seconds, your Ecoflow will be drawing current for way way longer.
The wiring is protected by 2 fuses, one in the plug and another in the wiring to the ceramic socket, as Okta has stated IF the Ecoflow was taking excessive current then one of them would have blown, that points to a reasonable theory that it's nothing more than contact resistance within the connection, that could be the plug and socket it's self or the connections within the plug including the fuse holder jaws. Now if the ciggy plug isn't up to the job then yes that's poor on Ecoflow's part but spending ages only to swap out one crap ciggy plug for another isn't personally a route I'd take, I'd just re-wire with an Anderson connector and be done.
Yep we could be wrong and as you claim the Ecoflow is indeed "definitely faulty" but whenever someone says "Ciggy plug gets hot" then a Pound to a penny it's just too much current through a rubbish design, no one cant really make a safe diagnosis without ascertaining it's current draw, you need a DC clamp meter for that.

They sell these power packs with a cigarette lighter type charge cable though @merl so it should be fit for use. The car charger with the Delta 2 is only rated at 8 amps though

If it was the Ecoflow drawing too many Amps the 15A fuse would have blown before the plug melted. It is far more likely that the heat was generated by a poor contact between plug and socket which caused the plug to melt, which eventually shorted out and blew the 20A fuse to the socket.

Purchased almost month ago, to support my laptop charging as work remotely in my MH.
What a mistake, it drew so much current it melted the 22volt charger plug, fortunately the socket was a ceramic fused outlet and the 25 amp fuse blew.
Lost faith and returned it for a refund absolutely no suggestion the retailer Leroy Merlin in France would rectify or refund me.
No response from Ecoflow as yet and only an offer to return to Ecoflow by LEROY Merlin.
What has your experience been with this unit, views much appreciated
Did you purchase the Ecoflow using a credit card?

If so read the following:

He will still have to prove that the Ecoflow is faulty. A melted plug alone does not prove this because there are other explanations, including the known weaknesses of cigarette lighter sockets.

I believe that stated previously the socket was especially installed ceramic type to carry 25 amps and it did not burn or discolour.

The fault I had was the solar panel plug over heated and it melted to the ecoflow socket , the solar panel is a 200 watt the charge cable was bought with the Delta 2 , never got to know outcome as ecoflow never responded at all , that was a year ago , the dealer I bought it from gave me a full refund ,

But it was the plug that failed, not the socket.
Without the ability to measure the current all anyone can do is speculate and hypothesise, a
DC clamp meter is required really, you could however cut the plug off and wire it directly via a 15A fuse, that would indicate an over current situation. I can't see you having a lot of joy with a refund or replacement anyway and I can't see how cutting off a molten plug would sensibly affect that warranty IF you were to succeed so well worth a go IMHO.

I wouldn’t be telling anyone I had it in a socket capable of 20/25 amps. I don’t know if they actually restrict current or rely on normal cigar lighter outlets doing that for them. Is there any warnings in the paperwork about not using higher powers outlets? If not then it can’t affect your claim anyway but it does say 8a from car charging

@Eriba Just heard you on LBC talking to Dean Dunham.

Unfortunately he didn't pick up that you bought the unit in France.

So the Consumer Rights Act benefits don't apply...

They are all the same, Ecoflow got a big name because they gave them to YouTube influencers
I have 2 Ecoflows, both great. I did have to return one after about 1 year and they promptly sorted it.

But I agree influencers are pushing them often with unrealistic claims.

Also I get messages telling me to introduce a new buyer and get a percentage. All a bit too pyramid like for me.

Hi all , I purchased a ecoflow river max ,they informed me that a new software update was available so I downloaded it but it made the front screen blank ,had to contact them! What a rubbish after service. after 6 months of emailing eco flow with no solution other than return to eco flow which I did but still no resolution to it ended in the supplier Jessops giving me a refund .
In my opinion ecoflow have a very poor after service, and I will not be buying any further ecoflow products,if it goes wrong your on your own, I wonder why they have so many refurbished products for sale!!

It seems to me they have absolutely no interest in the end user at all, just numbers via online influencer's.
It has given me an alternative view to so called influencers!
Neither will get my patronage again
