Eberspacher frost setting

Hi all
We bought the camper this year
Eberspacher works fine.
The previous owner (nice guy) told us in winter
the Eberspacher kicks in when temp gets cold overnbight automatically.

According to the manual this operates at 2 degrees C inside the camper
I put a remote digital thermometer in the camper.
This registered an over night low of 0 degrees inside the camper.

Yet the eberspacher never kicked in
We can hear it from inside our house..
Any ideas why it hasn't kicked in?
Or how I can test it.
Or how I can test the temperature sensor

many thanks for taking time to read
this post

On our erbespacher, the control unit has a snowflake button, which you just press and an associated led lights up.
Also I have the option of running it on diesel or 240v. A few more button presses needed to get to this option, you would need to follow your particular models instructions.
There is an instruction manual online that I have accessed before to help me work out how my heating and hotwater operates.
Hope that helps.

most thermostats are mounted quite high did you place the thermometer in a similar position also you need good battery voltage to fire up a Eberspacher. If you are parking at home it is cheaper to run a mains hook up and then you can charge the battery and run a small convector or oil filled radiator that has a frost setting

I'd second that, I have an ebby too... but to be honest I personally prefer to link up and use an oil filled rad too....cheap and i don't worry when left. but thats only me.

You have a very good point about it being cheaper to run an oil filled radiator.
Last year we ventured to the Harz mountains (Germany) in October, it was a bit chilly so when we stopped over on an Aire just outside of Braunlage, we opted for the 240v 'ebby' heating.
2 days later we asked for our electric bill (meter reading type) and had to pay 20 euros!!!:scared:...the meter was checked to ensure I had read it correctly and sure enough our 'heating' had cost us 20 Euro.
Perhaps using the cooker hotplate didn't help much either..

Thanks
for the suggestions we will look at an oil filled but does anyone know a way of testing the
wall mounted sensor for eberspacher please

yes set the stat at say 10 deg place your thermometer at the side of it and sit and wait you could do this at any setting I suppose. If the thermostat is working OK it would be safe to assume it will be OK at any temperature.
But how do you know your thermometer is correct. :hammer:

you could go to an Eberspacher dealer and have it checked there is a good dealer in Rotherham.

If you have just the wall mounted thermostat I assume you turned the heating ON and then lowered the themostat to 2deg or the minimum setting, ...... if Turned OFF it wont turn ON by itself

Hi Alf thanks for the post
The instructions clearly says
I comes on automatically
No mention of having to turn it on and then set the stat to low.

Kev it is always better when trying to help if the make and model of both the motor caravan and eberspacher are given more precise help can then be given

Alf

Hi Alf it's a Hobby 750
However the Eberspacher was a retrofit

Kev Which model Eberspacher and is it controlled by a programmer like beemers or is it just a wall mounted thermostat
