Duckboards

If you go via Cheshire then...............

Pity, methinks it would look very contemporary too.

Yes I agree,I had considered using plastic but finding something off the the shelf at the right price is another matter, although I'm currently working for a recycling company so keeping an eye on what comes in the gate.

The old single glazed window frames were often made of Mahogany (and possibly other hardwoods).

I should know, I used to recycle them ......... straight into my Bosky multi-fuel stove. :p

I expect its in keeping with tradition when it comes to boatbuilding, and its probably what the buyers expect,if plastics had been around for hundreds of years then it may be a different story. I'm certainly OK with experimenting, especially if it means saving some dosh, and who knows maybe traditional isn't always best.

Bamboo

Lots on Amazon - a lot cheaper than I expected too.

Will take a closer look and get one myself. :)

Bamboo looks good, but none of the Amazon ones are square - my shower tray is. :(

Teak is naturally oily and therefore resistant to sea water. Iroko is a good substitute and probably more environmentally sound. Neither is particularly prone to splintering in use but will probably cause an infection if you get one in you while working with it.
