Ducato 1996 2.5 diesel Please HELP TOWBAR SELECTION

Hi all, I need advice on which towbar to get for my 1996/7 2.5 Diesel campervan conversion.
Been through ebay, can't get satisfactory answers as towbars shown are just an example.
I don't want to spend money on a towbar that won't fit.
Has anyone fitted a bar to thier ducato who can tell me which one they have?

I had the same problem a few months ago but phoned the ebay seller to inquire about fitment and they where very knowledgeable and advised me as to which one I needed.

I think that nobody can answer your question because you have not given enough information. All you have in your profile is Ducato campervan.

What model is it exactly (name of convertor and model number). This is because some vans have chassis extensions fitted to give a longer motorhome. This could mean that one type of towbar will fit and many other types will not. It might even have an Alko chassis fitted, which is different again.
 
My 1988 Ducato based Hymer has a tow bar fitted it has a large U shaped bracket attached to the chassis that looks like it weighs about half a ton.
I was thinking of taking it off to save the weight.

Hi maingate, it's just a LWB 1996 ducato 14 2.5 diesel, basically a van with stuff inside, no extentions etc.
 
Hi, for my twin wheel transit, I wielded one myself, but for the vintage Rover I went to a small garage that made trike's, he bent and wield a frame and made a beautiful job, shop around there are plenty of capable people out there

Hi all, thanks for your replies, I've been soaking it with plus gas to make sure I can get the bolts undone before ordering towbar.

Hi David, sounds a good idea, problem is I don't thin they have nuts on them.
On top of the spring hangers it feels like a dome on top that the bolts thread into, perhaps I should get my inspection camera and check.
The big bolt on the bottom just disappears into the hanger though.
 
I can't understand what bolts your trying to undo Recently I removed a hitch from a Ducato van 2007 and there was no need to undo any suspension bolts. Just remove center of bumper and part underneath then all bolts where supplied with hitch
 
When I was involved with a minibus service,we needed to fit some of them with towbars to use trailers for luggage etc,we used Port Sunlight trailers. They solve the problem by fabricating a neat towbar and were fully conversant with loading issues and they were efficient and quick. I have no connection with the company.

Sorry to jump in without an intro guys. I am looking for a towbar for my 1987 Hymer and would be interested in buying yours if not too far away.
 
Yes Hitch is designed to fit existing Chassis's holes like a jigsaw I've fitted a few to different cars and vans most come with bolts and fitting instructions
 
We have had both our towbars fitted by towtal in Stoke on Trent. A bit pricey but very good bars.
