driving licence over 70s

Just make sure to send your stuff registered/recorded/tracked delivery (or whatever the modern equivalent is).
This doesn't always work either, Marie. A few months ago, SWMBO had to declare medical conditions in order to renew so sent off the forms Royal Mail Tracked. We watched the RM website but the forms never arrived, supposedly. RM did sent us a fat book of stamps as compo, but I think the watchword here is to give yourself plenty of time and keep copies of the forms. As long as you can demonstrate that you have applied you can keep driving in the UK even if your licence has expired.

Long and winding story, but in the end it took DVLA about five months to issue her new license. By then, we were forced to cancel our French trip.

Royal Mail Special Delivery Guanteed by 1pm is the service I use. Has to be signed for and you can view a scan of the signature online so there is no argument about the DVLA having received the package. Better than tracked and worth the extra.
Are Royal Mail now allowing recipients to sign? Last time a "Signed For" item was delivered to me, the postie handed it over but presumably signed for it himself.

They did introduce some special Covid delivery procedures. Whether you have a Postie signature or a DVLA signature you still have legal proof that the documents have reached the DVLA. Tracking alone does not give you that proof.

thanks ive read a quite a few stories like this. it seems as tho the dvla licencing are in a bit of a pickle.

From what I've seen lately, there's a lot of young farts on the road ( IE under 70 ;) ) who haven't a clue and should never have been allowed on the roads in the first place..:rolleyes:

young farts, old farts, inbetween farts, you smell them .ere, you smell them there...you smell /see them everywhere
big cars , little cars. white vans, artics you name it....like rats only 6 ft away from one at any time.
just keep yer eyes on the road and drive safely. and watch out for the other farts...
