i have heard that folk have been having lots of problems since covid etc.
whats been your experience
its 3 yrs since i last renewed mine and cannot remember how i did it.
many thanks for any help which will be much appreciated...(only need it for car) many thanks

I renewed mine online Trixie, very quick and easy but you need a valid UK passport, make sure it is this link though and not one of the paying ones

You can do it on line but be Very careful there is a company that charge You do not pay any money DVLA do not charge go through DVLA I got Court they Appeared to be Dvla and a result I had no driving license for over a month so be very carefull.
DVLA know of this company and do not approve them.

the thoughts of doing it all on line is daunting. especially if you have to show docsuments etc. dont have a printer. would prefer to do it by post....on line YEEEEK

This might be more useful for you, Trixie - the old fashioned way, by post. Get forms from the Post Office.

Just make sure to send your stuff registered/recorded/tracked delivery (or whatever the modern equivalent is).

You might need to include a recent passport-type mug shot, so a trip to a photo booth at the same time? Our nearest main post office has a photo booth for just this type of thing.

According to the info on the page link below you can still drive while waiting for the new license to come through.

Looks as though it can't be done online if you've just reached 70 so doing it for the first time and still have a paper driving licence.
I've had no need to change mine since before the new fangled photo cards came out!
