Driver's side wheel noise

Hi all

When I last drove my motorhome I could hear a noise coming from the front drivers side wheel
it sounds like its metal on metal and goes louder when am turning the steering wheel to the left, I notice the noise more when am going 50-60 mph, when I put very little pressure onto the break while driving the noise goes until I take foot off the break then starts again,.
Does anyone know what this could be please?

Thanks
Paul

we realy need basic info on your van ,like make, year . realy without this info we wont really be able to help much just guesses . but a stab in the dark .wheel bearing .or if you van is front wheel drive maybe cv joint .but you get a clicking noise on either full lock with that . worn out brake pads but you would get the grinding noise on braking . but its more than likely the bearing

Jack that corner up grip the wheel at the top and bottom and try to rock it back and forth (thats push the top as you pull the bottom and vice versa), see if you notice any play, also check the brake pads:cool:

Hi guys
Thank you for the help and info I have just booked it into a garage for tomorrow morning to let them take a look at it for me,

Brake springs to mind - does the wheel/disc feel much hotter than the other wheels/discs? Do you get any vibration/feedback through the steering wheel or even your seat?

Possibly a daft question but it's not the wear indicator is it? Some pads come with what is essentially a bent piece of metal stuck to them that rubs on the disc when the pad reaches its wear limit and make a loud sqeaky noise.

CV joint (from my experience) tends to start off as a slight knocking when you're on full lock, then as they wear further, it knocks on less and less lock.

Hi
The guy at the garage when I rang him said it sounds like the brake, not really noticed it the wheel/disk gets hotter than other side,
am just hoping its just the brakes

Thanks for everyone's replys
I took it the garage on Saturday the guy checked it out and it was the brake pads so taking it back in tomorrow to do it :)

Similar noise some while ago on my Ducato was due to a few stones caught in the front brake's stone guard. An ultra cheap fix once it was diagnosed.Though I've also had Ducato wheel bearing issues, but more of a low grinding/rumble sound. This was accompanied by the front wheel running hot to the touch after 10 -20 miles.
Hope you get it sorted anyway.
