Drinking Alcohol

And that's only part of the story, Age, gender ,build, sleep last time you ate all play a part too

I learnt a long time ago motorcycles and alcohol don't mix

Channa
You're right. It's a bit too greasy. I prefer water in mine.

Remember the law in Scotland regarding drink driving is stricter then England. I personally don’t drink if driving next day.

So , basically , 2-3 glasses of wine . Bed at 10 , set off at 10 the following morning , pretty safe .

It depends on the size of the glass and the ABV(alcohol by volume) of the wine. Some generous pourers will be giving you a glass with 4 units. The idea of having your own personal breathaliser is a good one.

Don't drink much when on the road but still looking for a driving school that will take on a 7.5 year old teetotal labrador

According to this web page, we all metabolise alcohol at 0.016% blood alcohol content (BAC) per hour. Meanwhile, this web page (use with caution) includes a calculator that you can use to estimate your BAC after a session. If you divide the result by 0.016, you can calculate how long it will take for your BAC to reach zero. As I indicated, use this info with caution -- but it does give an idea and sometimes the results are suprising.

Is there an echo in here. 😂

Some don't read the whole thread, nothing wrong with reinforcing this message.
Many from outside Scotland either don't know, or forget about the ludicrous position we have up here.
Recent figures show that one in five who are prosecuted for drink driving in Scotland, don't live here.

The more they catch the better IMO. Personally I think it should be zero tolerance for alcohol as it is for other drugs.

Don't wish to lecture people but alcohol is a gateway drug to aspirin.

Yup, driving limit is lower in Scotland.

But to compensate, stuff like the beer in the link below is more expensive
This stuff is brill, only 2% abv but tastes great, I even drink it at home, 90 pence for 4 cans.

Online Food Shopping - ASDA Groceries

each can is 0.9 Units, so in Scotland, the minimum price allowed is 45p a can - so pack of 4 will be twice the English price!
Stock up before you cross the border

I know a lot of canny Scotsmen who go on the booze run to Berwick upon Tweed to save a few pence.

I generally drink maybe twice a week but I do have a good scoop so if I am wilding I probably just wont drive the next day or if I do not before mid afternoon.

I once went to an all weekend party in the lake district and on the Sunday when everyone was leaving someone had a proper Breathalyser and it was 2pm before I blew clear. Mind you we were going some that weekend.

There is zero tolerance.
If you are over the limit, you are banned for at least six months, probably more, fined, your insurance goes through the roof, and you won’t be able to hire a car for five years.

If you mean there should be zero alcohol in your body before driving, that’s completely impractical.
Your body naturally produces a small amount of alcohol through the digestive process, and some food stuffs contain small amounts of alcohol.

I agree that the limit set in Scotland should be the limit but for the whole of the uk not only Scotland.

The ASDA in Berwick is the same distance as the ASDA in Gala for me. But I don't bother as the only drink that was really impacted in truth was the stuff like White Lightning "cider" and apart from that I don't drink enough to care :D

But try buying Mutton in Berwick! As a butcher there told me once .... "We're not that kind of town" :lol-061: :lol-061:
