We are travelling to France tomorrow via Dover. Does anyone know what the traffic /delays are like? Also are we best to top disiel this side of the channel?

Get your diesel in France - no issues regarding that.

The Dover problem is intermittent - pot luck on that one.

Fuel was way cheaper the other side a week ago. We came back last Monday (boo!) and filled up at Dunkirk at €1.05/litre of diesel. Still got half of it left. Generally throughout France and Belgium price varied from €1.05 to €1.25 apart from on extortionate motorway aires.

Can't say about delays going out as we went a month ago and things change, but coming back expect at least an extra half hour delay (at Calais anyway) for the latest security checks. If we'd turned up with the usual half hour to spare we'd have missed the boat, literally.

Have a great trip (aren't they all?)

Fuel as said in France and delays to Dover are usually at weekends but nowhere near as bad as a couple of weeks ago.

Refuelled yesterday in Dieppe at 1.02.9 euros per litre. The cheapest I saw was 99.9 cents per litre but couldn't take advantage because I had already filled a day earlier.

Beer is still 90 cents for a pint (yes a pint) of San Miguel or Super Bock on the Algarve and only 1 euro for an incredibly large glass of wine. Not on the sea front though. Need to go a few yards in from the promenade.

Do not come down the A20 use the A2 and over the flyover to the docks. The lorry queues can hold you right up on the A20 where the traffic lights are then the roadworks then the entry queues.
A2 every time.

I agree.
