Dover to Yeovil recommendations (inland or coast)

I quite fancied doing some of the Quadrophenia film locations. Shag alley in Brighton and the cliffs at Beachy Head where the scooter went off at the end but I can't find anywhere close enough that looks ok to stop and I bet I wont be allowed to ride the scooter along the cliffs anyway pretending to be Phil Daniels. :D

Need to get further along anyway I reckon. I've found a CL near Chitchester anyway so will probably go there. Michelle wants to go directly to Chideok near Bridport but its a right PIA getting back up to Yeovil in the van from there.

Chideee ouch, CL. I often used to visit the utilities site next door Chideok Sewage TW.
Definitely a great area for budding Laura Croft's

You might be thinking of the one at Chideok off the A35. The one we stay at is actually North Chideok. About a mile north of there up a proper goat track. Its another reason I dont want to go there for two nights, then have to dislodge myself down the goat track and back up to Yeovil. The one in the village is ok though I guess except its about £25 a night just to be sat in a row with other vans. North Chideok is £8 and its massive.

Chichester ring road might not be too bad on a Sunday, but if you haven't sampled the delights of its endless roundabouts you're in for a treat. Most weekdays it's one big car park, last month when we went that way the satnav diverted us through the town, saved about 20 mins. Also, the road works on the M27 are still quite extensive with 50mph limits.
Have fun 😉

I think we will do Chichester on the Monday when its open. Will use the scooter though and leave the van on the CL. Probably have a rake around Bosham on Sunday afternoon.

We stayed at Port Solent Portsmouth PO6 4TS on the way home from Newhaven free to park just phone and give them your reg No Just have a slow ride along the coast road it's about half way to Yeovil

Thanks

Booked a CS just now for Sunday and Monday night between Chichester and Bosham.

I did go to that area once when I was 17 in 1983. My best pal was on dialysis and still is all these years later. There was a holiday camp on Sussex beach which I seem to remember was near Chichester and they had dialysis units at the holiday camp. So off we went for a week with a load of Kidney patients from the north east and some hot nurses in a coach. It sounds sh*t but it was an absolute riot. Would be good to remember where the feck it was and go and find it. :D

We do that trip about 10 times a year and its slow going till you're past Chichester then it's slow going after Chichester 🙄. N to A36 to Salisbury and A303 home. Reminds you how uncongested the French roads generally are.

How long will it take me get from Chichester to Yeovil Tuesday morning leaving around 8am? Google maps says the following. Shall we have have a sweepstake? :D

The M27 will be rammed at 0800, at least as far as the Eastleigh turn towards the west. There are still road widening works, a 50mph speed limit and half the south coast population bumping and boring to get space for the charge towards Winchester and/or London. We've left the Solent Marina overnight parking as early as 0600-0630 and have still been nose to tail in the 'all lanes chase' ...

Until a few months ago we lived near Chichester, with daughter just north of Dover and son just north of Yeovil.....I'm pretty familiar with the route above.....it avoids the bottle necks on A27 between Brighton and Chichester (shorham and Arundel). Chichester bypass can be a pain but there's no easy way to avoid it.
From end of M27 in new forest id probably go north past. Salisbury to a303...bit slower but perhaps prettier
