My fridge has decided not to work on any function with no light or sign of life on any of them. Have checked fuses and they seem ok.
Anyone got any idea what would cause all 3 systems to fail?
thanks

Hi Blobb,
Dometic have an excellent web site and you can download the manual for your model from it.
The fact that your fridge shows no lights would suggest that the 12v power is not getting through to the fridge control panel. Using a multi-meter I suggest that you check carefully from the distribution fuses right through to the back of the control panel to see if it's getting through. Chances are there is either a bad fuse or perhaps a corroded connection in the wire. The control panels are voltage sensitive so any resistance in the circuit will cause the voltage to drop below that needed for it to work.
Hope this helps,
Wanderer

Thanks Wanderer

I have the manual but its no help for this problem. If as you say its the power to the control panel I will be very relieved. I will have to wait until after the holiday to get it checked by an electrician....thanks for your help

I'd point the finger at the thermostat circuit, if that fails then everything goes into failsafe/off to make sure you dont have gas leaking etc.

I've had a few bad connections in fridge circuits over the years caused by "dry" spade connectors, can be fixed by removing and reseating the connectors in turn - often get a film of green gunk building up on the 12V circuit connectors.

Try http://gasrefrigeration.net/dom_techdata/7030_7732SM.PDF for the service manual.

I would agree with Roger,
These fridges are designed with safety as a priority because of the useage of LPG. Start by partially removing the fridge, which should be easy. Make sure ALL power is off. Remove the screws down the sides of fridge and slide it gently forward. The main terminals are on the top surface at the front. One of the wires comes from the main terminal to the thermostat control switch and back to the main terminal block again; these pair of wires could be the problem. Unscrew both connections and clean them with some sandpaper and replace them. Being VERY carefull, switch on the fridge and see if the light now comes on. If not, then using a voltmeter, put the red voltmeter probe onto the main input posative wire and the black probe on to the negative earth wire on the main input and you should have a reading of 240 volts. Then take the red probe and put it into the RETURN wire from the thermostat, turn up the thermostat and place the black probe into the earth connection again you should have 240v, if you get no reading or below 220v then the thermostat has shot it and needs replacing. I must emphasise that it is easy to do this check but it you feel unsure you MUST let the professionals do it and charge you an arm and a leg, or more likely tell you the fridge has had it and sell you a new one, do yours up, and sell it secondhand for a handsome profit. If you are near me in South Derbyshire, bring it round and I will do this check for you for a pint of Marsdons pedigee.

thanks Roger and Bopper

I have someone looking at it on Tuesday..an excuse to join you for a pint of Pedigree Bopper is very tempting...if I have no luck next week I will take you up on it as I am not to far away in Yorkshire

thanks for your help

Just to follow up The Grand Wanderer was spot on with his fuse diagnosis.
I thought I had found both fuses but it turned out one was the electric step!

The electrician found a 5amp fuse blown on the control circuit no reason found.

Many thanks for help
