Dometic fridge not working on gas

Gooday! My fridge is not working on gas, its fine on battery when driving and when were plugged into power. It's sparking when trying to connect and there is a spark, I've opened the cover to inspect it. Checked the fuse, it's ok. Obviously checked the gas as the stove is working. Thanks

You need to establish if the gas is lighting or not ( I don’t mean to sound condescending) if it’s not actually lighting then change the gas bottle and try again.

If it is lighting then it may just be that the temperature behind the fridge is too high, in which case make sure the side of your van which the fridge is on is in the shade.

I’ve been through this recently and found parking with the back of the fridge in the shade, removing the vents and placing a fan in the bottom vent facing in, and a fan in the top vent facing out to increase air flow sorted it (bit of a pain tbh)

I’m off to Spain, Portugal and Morocco in July and I’ve ordered a compressor fridge replacement, but that’s an expensive fix.

Maybe the coil on the gas solenoid is fried and needs replaced?
Should be able to check it with a multimeter.

The good news is if your fridge works on mains and battery there’s not much wrong.
It’s probably the burner being clogged up with soot and debris which can build up if not serviced. It’s something I do myself every year.
If you have never done this for years it’s the most likely cause.
So you have to get to the actual burner and clean it out as the debris and soot prevent proper combustion, and heat transfer to the fridge coolant gas.

If the flame goes out it could be your thermocouple which needs replaced.
They are not expensive to buy and simple to install.

But if you have never cleaned out the burner it’s a worthwhile thing to do regardless if that’s the issue or not. But as I say it’s the most likely cause.

Look at the video around 1:40 where he's cleaning the tube with slots on top. On my fridge those slots had completely corroded away. It was still igniting but making a fluttering noise which could be heard inside the van. This was at around 5 years old.
I had to change the whole burner/jet/thermocouple assembly. It's not difficult but will cost c£80/90. If you need to do this, be careful to choose the exact correct part number for your fridge. There are a number of versions available which outwardly look quite similar.
