I have Dometic RDM8505 fridge/freezer and can't open the freezer door, it is not frozen shut.
The push rod from the door lock mechanism goes onto a plastic piece that pivots to release the door catch. This piece has broken so I can't open the door.
Any ideas how to release the catch would be gratefully received.
THANK YOU

SUCCESS!
I managed to take the door decor panel off. ( instructions in fridge manual )
Then removed the cover to the latch mechanism, a thin plastic strip.
Behind is the pivot.
Remove the broken lever.
Now with something at least 50mm long and quite thin e.g. small screwdriver, metal kebab skewer or similar you can operate the lever. This is surprisingly stiff as the spring is quite strong.
I had to jiggle the lever and lift the door, after a few attempts success.
I then unscrewed the latch. Had to remove a rectangular cover over the screws.
This way I can be sure it won't happen again!
Hopefully the magnetic strip will keep it closed but I'll put a wedge in when driving.
A little lockbar should stop the catch from dropping but I didn't want to rely on this.
I hope this will help someone else.
