Picked this link up, on another group where they were recommended by a user, and thought it might be of interest. I don't have any personal experience of them but they look sturdy and would seem to be an improvement over camping type windbreaks with all the guy ropes.

I've seen the windbreaker and pet enclosure on sites. I'm sure they work but give the impression that a territory is being claimed. Almost expect to see the roll out garden behind it.

There are a few types on the market which are similar. We have seen plenty of them when we used to enter the big Championship Dog Shows (which last for 3 days). We quickly stopped overnighting at them as there were dogs yapping non-stop. :mad1:

I purchased a set but they are a bit more expensive than others, however they are good for hadstandings and very robust. I bought the type that are see through from top to bottom in the hope of not being as obtrusive as Jim points out but being as they are quite large that theory failed. I got mine purely because I was fed up untangling three dogs on their tethers so as dog pens they are great but you do get people giving you strange looks, funny why the don't do the same for people who erect awnings.

What's wrong with a long lead? At least the poor animal gets to look around then.

I agree that it's more about claiming territory. On the one occasion I used a campsite, I couldn't believe the way people were using windbreaks to make their own garden.

If if you want privacy, a campsite is the last place you'll ever find it.

I didn't expect a discussion on the rights or wrongs of "territory" but feel free to go with that if you want, tho' I do fail to see the difference between these and an awning, or a wind-out and windblockers.

My post was only to alert people who may want this type of thing to a version I hadn't come across before.

The long lead thing isn't so practical when you have more than one dog - they are forever getting tangled and wrapped around legs. Staking out two or more dogs so that they couldn't entangle would use up an awful lot more room than a windbreaker.
And I'm not a fan of tied-up dogs which feel they have to defend their plot and come bolting out from next to their owners 'vans/mh/tents, barking and screeching, only to be abruptly yanked back when they reach the limit of their tether.

Sorry Elaine you're right. My apologies for going off topic.

However, while I am off; who would want to keep an untrained dog that barks and screeches and almost strangles itself in desperation to see off whoever's approaching?

My dog just wags his tail in welcome, but then that's how he was trained to behave.
