Came across on another site someone who is very pleased that they have plumbed in a dishwasher into their van.

I am not knocking the no doubt serious skills that this project has taken but...

Power and water consumption comes to mind pretty fast not to mention the loss of storage space. Vehicle value down the line too is another thought.

Then there is the minor matter of why bother? When we had our guest house it was far more efficient to hand wash the 12 place settings than to faff about waiting for a dishwasher to cycle through. Table to table sub five minutes no bother.

There have been various threads about gadgets people buy for their vans . Each to their own but I find many downright hilarious .
Dishwasher is taking this subject to a whole new level . Surely no-one can better this ?

Earlier this year we was on the Wyatts Covert C&MC site whilst visiting Windsor and the guy on the pitch next to us said he was full timing.

He worked at Heathrow and split his time between there and the Chertsey C&CC site spend the maximum 21 days and 28 days respectively on each site.

The brand new Eldiss motorhome stayed on site and he used a motorbike to travel to and from work.

Even though it was expensive it still worked out a damn sight cheaper than trying to rent or god forbid buy somewhere down there :scared:

Whilst he was away at work you could hear something running / vibrating inside to motohome so when he came back i asked him what it was ?

He`d plumbed in a dishwasher and a fully automatic washing machine to his motorhome :rolleyes2:

The wardens on each site would reserve a pitch close enough to the service points to let him run a pipe from the waste outlet of the motorhome to the drain.

Watching some of the US Youtube Channels, a Dishwasher is a standard fit on most Class-A 'coaches' - and the amenities discussion seems to be around 1) do they have a separate Washer and Dryer, or a Combined Washer/Dryer (think the separates seem to win) and 2) are two separate A/C units enough or should they have 3.

Dishwasher water use? they are more economical with washers than handwashing in fact in a normal household environment (but probably not in a Motorhome). I always use the dishwasher personally (but only at home ;) ).

When we are out in the van it comes with a dishwasher it’s called me. she who must be obeyed cooks and I wash up .

As above in the US many RV's come with full facilities, you would need a 'super pitch' to use them, not my kind of motorhoming, but each to there own.
As for "waiting for a dishwasher to cycle through", why would anyone do that, surely as with automatic washing machines, you switch them on and go and do other things?

Not IF you know how many household fires are caused by white goods ....washers/tumble driers/dishwashers are all regular fire starters

Well for one thing I don't buy poor quality white goods, and for another many of those fires are caused by fridges and freezers, should we be building special fire proof rooms so we can leave them unattended? ;)

I'll take my chances with a fridge/freezer ....there are no heater elements in them or open wired motors unlike tumble driers/dish washers/washing machines etc .

Fridge and freezers are norm out in garages as they use less power in cold places,as for front load washers ,total crap im still using a 30 year old hover twintub which uses much less water.
And dish washers, what a lazy way to live, thats what wemen are for, head down.

Colinmd?

I was saying we were running a guest house and while yes we could have put the DW on and gone off and done other things the guests awaiting breakfasts would not have been too happy hence we hand washed for speed of turnaround.

72 people died in Grenfell Tower due to a fridge/freezer fire, but lets exclude that for the moment.
For every 3 or 4 washing machine/dishwasher fires there will be a fridge/freezer fire, I don't know the casualty figures, but I'd guess that due to the way they are operated at least as many and probably more people die due to fridge/freezer fires.

My reply was for those running one in a van, for commercial use dishwashers with 5 min cycle times can be had.

i've fitted w/machines and gennies to run them into vans , but never a d/washer

As you wish chap ....
I work day in day out with refrigeration/airconditioning ....and have no qualms leaving my fridge/freezer or for that matter my bedroom aircon running ....

Would I leave my dishwasher/washing machine running while im not there ....nope .

Clogged lint filters/lint on heating elements deep inside the machine and heating elements drying dishes unattended worry me ....if they don't bother you then cool as fella, your choice.

What would you have done if they all came down at the same time.? Sent half of them back to bed.!

Was the guest house called Fawlty Towers by any chance.
