Diesel prices

Really

Can someone fill me in on diesel prices in UK. I’m horrified at the prices in France.

Luckily I filled up in Irun @ €1.14ltr before crossing border & then topped up at Auchan @ €1.41 but noticed prices on the road up to 1.65.

In the past I’ve always brimmed the tank at Auchan, Calais before catching ferry, but probably not a good bet now.

If it needs it fill it,how much have you saved on site fees ?using wild spots and aires?

Indeed yes

We found diesel prices on France about 1.40 euros and now in Italy about 1.45 taking 1.11 as the exchange rate so 1.26 pounds in France and 1.30 in Italy all good especially as I expected Italy to ne 1.50 £
Pleasantly surprised by good food prices in Italy and cheap coffee in restaurants.
Free sostas not as frequent as in France but they exist.

Cheapest diesel in Buxton in £1.31.9 per litre, if you drive 5 miles you can save a 1p on that. Buxton has always been behind the times but I expect the price drops will level eventually :(

Don’t get this tight carry on to save £3 on full tank of fuel I know people who drive an extra 10 mile because it’s 5p a litre cheaper then 10 mile back my time is more important than saving pennies on a litre of fuel just don’t get it if I’m near a garage and I need diesel I buy it coz I canny be bothered wae o the faffing about.

The extra p goes towards the upkeep of your old opera house heh heh ;)

Plus Buxton is out in the sticks so you'll always pay more for fuel :)

My sentiment exactly guy here goes from Livingston to gorgie Edinburgh ,1-5 hrs round trip (traffic permitting) to save maybe a pound just don’t get it!

This’ll be the first time I return to UK with empty tank.

I’ll fill up at Tesco Dover & pay by card, after spending the euros at Lidl Dover on lots of lovely booze!

Caz always nags me to fill up when we pass a supermarket on the way out or back. If I need it when I am setting off I will fill at the local as I dont want to be stopping again 10 miles from home. Then again if I know I will need more on a trip I will fill up at supermarkets I know on the way to the M1 or M60, no point wasting money :)

Did I just say that to a Scot haha

It is well worth it if your passing an area that you know to be cheaper. Prices vary as to the distance the fuel has to travel from the Refinery. Morrisons, Walsall, is within 1/2 of j9 m6. They are 10 miles or so from the refinery at Kingsbury.

Going to Wales for instance it's well worth the diversion. My nearest supermarket from home is over a mile in the opposite direction. Yes, I could go to the Shell or BP and pay even more, then I'd save, oh, I don't know, a whole minute of my time. My new outlook on life dictates, " When they made time, they made loads of it."

Fuel prices, from 127.6 to 143

Diesel prices at Tesco Dundee 127.6 Ltr but Dalwhinnie and Invergarry 139.6 pence a ltr.

Knowing we needed diesel yesterday, we drove the way that passes several supermarkets and filling stations, noting the prices. On the way back later, we filled at the cheapest (Sainsbury's) at 122.9. Asda and Morrisons were several pence more and just round the corner a filling station was 131.9.but their LPG was 53.9 which is reasonable.
The tank took 74 litres or so to fill. Looking as we had driven past earlier meant we didn't pay 9p per litre ofercthe odds. That's a saving of over £6.60. I have thousands of Nectar points already but haven't found a use for them.

Use the nectar points to pay for your shopping or diesel, that’s a pretty good use for them.
