hi sagart thanks for advice, if i ever buy a house it would be that red one. i do know skye but haven't used the van there.i love the fairy glen at uig. does anyone know it? a cat took me there

Talisker(Distillery) lays on a superb Christmas/New Year party for workers & the villagers.
Highlight is at the end when the maudlin incomers always demand "Flower of Scotland" and gather in a staggering huddle to sing it, convinced it makes them look like "natives".
You can always tell a really unwelcome incomer. They desperately look for a Gaelic name for their house, and someone suggests, "Taigh Beag".......you can't imagine the number of houses advertising themselves as lavatories, while the poor souls imagine it means, "The Wee House" (suppose it does really).

Price rises, blame yourself for global warming, I don`t think.

Yes, now through the £1 ltr barrier, no stopping them now.As usual , well just "carry on" complaining.

On a TV programme within the last week, some geologists had taken measurements from the ice caps and determined that the global temperatures are the same now as they were 160,000 years ago! But this government forces me to pay more tax because I drive a Landrover and its all my fault. They are all as corrupt as anyone can be and they really doe know how to feather their own nest, so why should Brown care when the MPs now get £160 per day just to turn up for part time work and pay their family members thousands for not doing anything.

Regarding health insurance by Firefox "If you think you have it bad here, why not move out to the USA. You'll pay much less tax on fuel but forget free hospital treatment. You'll have to pay $1000 a year health insurance.
You can't have it all ways.

It wouldn`t be so bad if we actually recieved a proper NHS for all the thousands of pounds paid into it, Oh God, don`t get me going on that one. The list is endless.

What a right bunch we are. Have a nice day, I will.

All those that blame the Government for high fuel prices, must have real short memories. How big were shell profits last year, or B.P's, or Esso's or Exxon's, Just look them up. They are in the business to make fortunes for shareholders, nothing more nothing less, if they could make more for selling your Grannies, believe me there would scarce few Grannies about.Fuel prices depend upon the traders in futures markets and when they see a trebling of demand in China and India, as at last there populations begin to enjoy the sort of lifestyles we did in the 50's we moan that its their fault, or Browns fault, The fuel price has gone up everywhere regardless of the tax but governments are the target we pick. If China was to double its fuel use overnight it would still be piddling, per capita compared to the U.S. They build housing complexes there without pavements, because to walk somewhere is an alien concept, get in the car, drive a mile to the Gym spend an hour walking on a treadmill then get in the car to drive home, whereas if they had walked to the Gym, not gone in and walked home they would achieve the same result but save the fuel, the Gym fees. Its how minds are set that have to change. So if you want to blame someone look closer to home, to our lifestyles, our waste and if your worried about it affecting our M/H ing, then I suppose we have to alter the way we do it. Holiday closer to home, use bikes or public transport when we get there, I know even when it gets to £1.50 a litre it wont stop me, just alter the way I do it.

Give up worrying about Fuel prices, I now get my Veg oil at .45p per Ltr from the Co-OP. Rolling back the price?

Does the same job, just smells sweeter.:D

Sorry Don, I think that you'll find that as the Food Industry also has a "call" on Veg Oil that the price of food in general will be going up as well.
Swings and Roundabouts?

Prices went skyhigh not only in the UK also here on the continent.
High price on the pump suits the government: 75% are taxes. So why do something about it ? Gas and electricity went up 100% this year. Not our wages or pensions of course (a meager 2%). Mu£tinationa£s will go better :(
and they have the governments in their pocket

Looking at the continental prices, Diesel is cheaper than Petrol, Not so here, why?

Also Continental prices peeked, then started to go down, not here, Why?

Remember the years gone by when diesel was cheap, so folks started buying diesel cars, so up shot the price, now, they have gone passed the price of gasoline. As time goes buy the Gasoline prices will ctach up with the diesel price. It is a vicious circle.
As to why not here, shere greed on the part of the supplier and government. Have you ever known prices to come down, not as long as I have been alive. If one product goes down, another climbs. At the end of the day we will always have to find a way around to compensate. Wouldn't surprise me to watch the price of veg oil going up and up until it levels with gas and diesel.

the price we pay

the contental systen seems to let the working man have reasonable prices for the esentials ie
diesel
fags and backey
food
wine
other things may be more expensive
but if we all stuck together like they do we might get somewhere but we brits dont we just moan a little and then pay what ever is asked
we can only blame ourselves for puting up with it

up up up

Prices are NOT going down on the continent, on the contrary they are just climbing
I can allways tell when prices will go up over here. 10 to 15 km away from me are the oilrefeneries in the port of Antwerp. When prices will go up they blow their torches skyhigh and two days later: yep.:mad:
(and they are blowing tonight !)

Hi, In answer to Don, re the fuel prices not going down, don,t you remember that nice scots chap called Brown stating that he has a fuel escalator that only ajusts the prices upwards.
Its not just the price to us of fuel, its the price of fuel for the deliveries to the shops, post etc. In fact all the things we need to live our lifes.
God I hate these b---- people who get paid for just making our lifes worth off, and apart from getting wages that most of us can only dream of, get paid for going to the house, paid for 2nd homes, put their wifes and kids on the books and then cheat on their expenses.
they will bring this country to a stand still if it carries on.

you are so right but you must have the rich who else would pay the poor

lay off it

Most of us have houses, motorhomes and an OK standard of living. We are not scrabbling for food, or tortured, or oppressed. Whatever we have got we always seem to want more and that includes moaning about pricey fuel, which is partly the consequence of our collective greed in the past.

I think we should be thankful for what we have got, and really think about what we all personally have got compared to other people in the world.

Firefox, grow up will you, and keep your narrow illinformed left wing views to yourself.I have been all over the world and DOYOU KNOW what is the reason for the above, ASS HOLES like you, Do gooders that do nothing.
It took the hard work and blood of millions of poor white working glass people to get this country out of the dark age. millions of them died on the westen front to protect this country and again in WW11. And service men and women are still fighting. We like some countries have not just sat on our asses living in the dark ages, and always with the begging bowl out so fools like you can allow these so say oppressed people to just sat there, doing F--- all. I must say that people like you make me fill sick.

OUCH ! peace fellows. :rolleyes: Let's keep it friendly :) Nobody is to blame;
only the few ones controlling it internationally (but who ?) and we all are peanuts...:mad::D:p

Yep, peace :)

I'm not sure it matters what colour skin the people who worked hard had. Perhaps it does in your mind. Sad, if that's the case.

Also, you'd be better sticking to the arguments and cut out the personal abuse, if you know anything about message board etiquette, and think back to the terms and conditions you agreed to, when you joined the board.

I just hate your view point, you started it with all the rubbish about Empire, payback time and poor people and left wing do gooder rubbish, If you feel so bad about these people sell all you own and give it to them, they always have their hands out. As for me I will defend my point of view and feel that the price of fuel for this country which so depends on it is just far to high.
As I said keep your views to yourself,
