Diesel in fresh water tank

Hi unfortunately I put £1 worth of diesel in the tank.
As we were camping the tank was flushed out a number of times. But diesel smell still there.
Unfortunately on returning home Hubby still unable to walk and help the tank was left until now
New water heater fitted asked for a new water tank but they were unable to source one for 1998 Clubman..

CaK unable to help.

Tried washing up liquid.
Now 2nd go with puricleen.

Next white vinegar.

Ordered Simply Green as mentioned by another person..

Does anyone have any other advice to offer, or where a new tank could be obtained.

Put some 6 bottles of cheap Lidl or Aldi cola drive about swishing it in the tank and drain did you put through the tap as well if so once drained put in another thre litres £1*20 ish and run that through also

If yes then lots of Biomagic. At least 5 times recommended dose,

1st time just fill and drain the tank with Biomagic and water.

2nd time fill tank with Biomagic and water and have a drive, then run water through any tap you used with diesel in the tank.

3rd time, fill tank with Biomagic and water have a drive, then run water through system again.

Then fill tank with fresh water only, then use drain and pipe cleaner in the waste only.

Friend bought a brand new boat Kev costing about 70 grand. It had 2 filler caps one on each side of the boat.

The manufacturer had forgotten to connect 1 filler cap up to the tank. Guess which side my mate filled up from - yep, he pumped 100 litres of diesel straight into the boat which was then a write off!

No no pipework involved. Just the tank itself.

I have just ordered this product.
And the office is only 10min drive from home. So will ring and see if I can collect tomorrow.

I have also ordered Simply Green as a lady said she had use this product successfully. But I asked questions but received no reply.

Will let you know how I get on..

There is something for this in the boat world isn't there Rob? I remember Charlie saying about a product for if diesel was put in water tank but don't recall name.

I think that was the BioMagic Neil, I'm sure that's what I have seen for sale at the Marina.

When I install a new brewery I use bleach not the thick liquid but the watery solution and hot water flush through then use Peracetic acid which is a foodsafe disinfectant then flush through the system.
