My trusty 2018 Devon Arizona on a Citroen Relay is now for sale with Motorhome Depot. It's been a brilliant van and has one of the best kitchens I've seen in a 6m PVC. We now need 4 berths for family use, instead of two. Details below.

I don't wish to be critical and of course, I don't know what deal you struck with MD but they wanted £3k off me, they had it a month and I got them down to £1500 when they did eventually get a bite.

Did they batter you down to help them sell it cheaper too, they did that with me, I simply said you are the experts, you told me what it was worth to get the job, you take the hit not me..

MY guy seemed pretty transparent and straightforward. He gave max and min prices and we selected. Gave discount off his standard commission for me to do the viewings which I'm more than happy to do. Average selling time has increased manyfold in the last year though.
When did you deal with them?

About 5 years ago, I've bought off them too, turned out to be a bit rough so I got rid straight away and lost money.

To be honest if you're doing all the work why pay them they do post a lot of ads but most are places you've never heard of.

Sorry you lost money. On the other stuff, I see your point but if they keep the ads going including Auto trader, find me a buyer and handle all the financial shenanigans then I'm happy with the deal thanks.

Do you mean that they charge you several k up front? I haven't dealt with them but soon I will have a motorhome for sale. Webuyanymotohomedotcom just agree a price, then come and look, suck air between their teeth, knock you down a few k , give you the cash in your bank and drive off in it.

Interested to know if you (or anyone here) has used Webuyanymotohomedotcom

No, but I have anecdotes from a few friends who tried them, great offer on the phone then a much lower offer when they look at it, a couple took the offers though as it is hassle-free.

Get them to stick the payload on the ad. Probably wont bother most newbie buyers of course but it drove me nuts on my long quest for a new van. Dealers seldom knew and motorhome depot never did either and it was always "Ill get in touch with the owner and come back to you" yet they never did.

You will soon know if its priced right as it will be gone. Facebook Market place is another option. Its free.

Thanks. Good point especially as it's a massive 850kg

"much lower" . Can you reveal how much lower? £3k? £10k? On what original offer etc?

I bought a van from a gent who had been advertising his very nice rapido with them, over probably 9 Months the price reduced by £5K so I asked for a further £3K and after a very long wait he got back to me and accepted £42500 from an original £49950 having dispensed with their services. It’s relevant because he lived in Inverness and during almost a year I was the only viewer, no one seemed to want to travel ,I’m in Worcester but was prepared to give it a go , I hope you don’t have the same experience as it looks a lovely van, can I suggest if it is beginning to stick rather that drop the price put it in the hands of a dealer farther South on a commission basis but good luck with it.

That's a very helpful tale. Thank you. I'll keep the idea of moving it "down south" in my back pocket if it seems to stick. The encouraging news is that the ad was viewed 840 times in the first 5 days on the Motorhome Depot site compared to a similar van that had 334 hits in 15 days. Of course a "hit" isn't a buyer but it's a start.
