Just had cruise control fitted at home. Just over 1 hour a lot cheaper than most places chap comes to you if you wish just north of Peterborough

Alex 07769046944 under £300 if he travels to you £270 if you drive to him nice friendly chap.tell him Ken recommends him

Cambridge to Devon next week might stop my ankles swelling used to stop as often as I could and have a short walk.to try and stop swelling.did not always work.

Simple home diy kit, prop or drive shaft sense, box of tricks and a switch, or a cheap Irish version.

I did it myself on our Ducato. Its not a difficult job. That said, £300 is a reasonable price for the work.

I would say £300 parts and labour to have Cruise Control fitted is a very reasonable price if you are not able to install yourself.

Complexity varies depending on vehicle -
I retro-fitted Factory CC on my last 2005 RAV4 - bought a second-hand steering wheel which had the CC stalk on it via eBay for £50. swapped it over for my [non-CC] steering wheel and plugged in the cable. Job done. Sold the old wheel for £25 so job overall cost me £25, but it did take a little time.
On the VW T5, I also retro-fitted Factory CC, but that involved buying a new set of control stalks (£100) and running a very awkward cable to a fuse box located UNDER the vehicle battery under the bonnet. Like the Toyota, also had to disconnect the Driver Airbag to remove the steering wheel and getting the airbag module off a VW T5 wheel is a very tricky operation the first time you try it! £300 for someone to supply the parts and do all the work on that vehicle would be a decent price to pay.
The first 2005 RAV4 I fitted aftermarket (Gold) cruise control. Took a couple of hours of work but the parts were definately more than £300 and that was well over 10 years ago. Even though not cheap, was still money well spent as at the time, my round trip to the office was around 250 miles!

I went to Wales cooler than Cambridge 38.6 mpg with the cruise control it will pay for it self very fast still had swollen ankles until I arrived home cannot understand long drive to Wales swollen ankles drive back to Cambridge within a few hours swelling gone. Its not Wales happens when I go to Devon.

Elastic on Y fronts too tight.

Maybe it’s me and the times we travel but I struggle to use cruise control in the U.K. unless I’m content to crawl along in the lorry lane (which I am not!).

What bugs me off on U.K. roads are those cars that overtake in the motorway outside lane and then pull over in front and then slow down. It’s as if they want to annoy cruise control users.

Different story in France and Spain though where it is used for hours at a time.

Useful to have though.

Best addition I made as I can move my legs about. I purchased a kit from Conrad Anderson and fitted myself with excellent backup from the company. Use it constantly, starting within minutes of leaving the village and is an absolute boon when in France with long stretches of straight roads. You will not regret.

I set mine around 59mph on motorways, when I come behind anything slower I just give a little throttle to overtake quicker. When I release throttle it just drops back to pre-set speed. Only the brake (or clicking off) drops it out of cruise, this has been the same on all vehicles I have had with cruise control fitted, even the active ones.
I will even set mine on minor roads including the 20mph ones in Scotland if there is little or no traffic. In fact anywhere I am not in stop start it’s on cruise lol

Done a 550 mile drive last week from Newquay to Glasgow in one hit towing a car. I was on cruise control a good 70% of the trip and I found my fuel consumption a lot better even with the car on the back just had the van serviced and a total reset of the ECU think it was definitely pulling better and had less lag on the hills. I use it all the time makes long journeys bearable.

I had a Volvo 960 with active cruise control years ago Wully. Set off from Buxton to go to a friends wedding in Inverness. Got on the motorway at Stockport and engaged cruise control set at 60mph as I was towing a four berth Cosalt Safari. Think I stopped twice on services but otherwise went straight through all on cruise apart from when in the services. Damn thing didn’t vary more than +/-1mph all the way, was uncanny going down hills when you aren’t used to active control lol

Road from Aubenas to Privas 1st thing today. CC would have been poor imo due to hills bends etc.aybe constantly and unnecessarily changing gear.
I have used CC so I do understand its advantages bit even in France I question its use especially on on interesting roads.
Great on motorways yes (M25 excepted ?).
Again in France on N roads 55mph would be a good setting but many stretches of 45 or 30 and sometimes 20 mph limits.
Then tbere are hills and bends !

Just ignore the "unnecessarily changing gear" abd think "continually kicking in and out"..
As you may perceive, for me, similar comments re an automatic gearbox. Again I have used and realise you can maintain a given gear in say hilly situations. A great idea for anyone with a muscle problem (or more) in their left leg.
